Correction: Floor did not know any of the Anette material when she flew in as the emergency replacement and that first show was mostly Anette material. She learned them from scratch on the flights over to Seattle. She only had a passing familiarity with some of the Tarja era songs as After Forever had toured with Nightwish in 2002. She did not know any of the Tarja songs well enough to just get up and performed them. That's all detailed in the documentary where she clearly states that she did not know any the new material and that show was almost all new material to her. I think people don't realize how quickly pros can absorb and perform new material.

Long rant in the middle of the song is not optimal for first time listener. Floor with her earlier band After Forever was also supporting act for Nightwish on tour back in 2002 or so. So they were familiar with each other. Ps. Floor nor vikings are from Finland. Finland is actually a country that was never ravaged by vikings even though they traded here. Historical stories tell thats because vikings were afraid of finns.
@kimmomatikainen1843Ай бұрын
Vikings tried to come to Finland with violence as well, but people in this land were too savage for them. I have read similar stories from very old Russian writings. Finns smelled bad, were big and brutal, like animals/beasts. There was a long writing (several pages) in a newspaper over 20 years ago about those writings, but I have not been able to find it anywhere. It was kind of funny and didn't give a very civilized picture of us Finns.

You are talking through Floor’s singing! That’s just not done. This is really a disappointing reaction with inaccurate info. for instance Troy was already working with the band before Floor joined, maybe not as part of the band at that time. Troy and floor were actually officially incorporated into the band at about the same time. I think you need to be from north west Europe ( I’m from the Netherlands, like Floor, home to most of the bands you named, Nightwish is Finnish) to really appreciate metal, because it’s inbred in us just like country music is part of American culture. We can both learn to appreciate each others music.

I am from a town near Kitee and was in my "prime party age" during Nighwish's early years..and little later. They played in that town several times. I have friends who are/were metalheads, but I actually don't know anyone who is a Nightwish fan. There are also a lot of metalheads in the US and other parts of Europe. I have lived my whole life in Finland so I know quite a lot of people in here, but not that many who are into metal. Yes, metal is popular and mainstream in Finland, but saying it is inbred is heavily exaggerated. Other than that, totally agree. If I don't mix this with another reaction, I think the guy talked about Finnish vikings. There were no vikings in Finland. Vikings tried to invade Finland though, but they found out that people living in this country were too savage and brutal to fight against and left very quickly.

@@kimmomatikainen1843 perhaps a bit exaggerated about the part that metal is inbred but it’s so much more wel known here, the Netherlands, Germany and the Scandinavian countries. Officially, they have never performed with an orchestra because it is very complex and prone to disruption. Mistakes always happen. That never bothered Epica, who have performed with an orchestra several times, or Visions of Atlantis with a small orchestra: Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records The Wacken festival grounds were and are in parts a pasture. The village has 2110 inhabitants and apart from farms and the festival there is nothing worth mentioning there. It was founded by people from the area and the surrounding area because there was no opportunity for their own metal band or others to perform. The first stage was a rented truck. Today it takes place over 4 days, on 7(?) stages of different sizes. Anette had become pregnant unexpectedly and was therefore supposed to be replaced for the Australian tour. This led to an argument that finally escalated during the US tour. Suddenly they need a new singer in two days. The Wacken concert took place 10 months after the change. The documentary only shows snippets of her very first performance. Tarja was able to establish herself as an independent singer. Anette hasn't had any major success since she left. I always resist the Mozart comparison. Metal Mozart sounds good, but Mozart was the pop musician among the great classics. Beethoven was the metalhead. For Imaginaerum, Tuomas had the idea of a series of music videos. That way, the music videos could have been released individually. The director then convinced him to make a real film where the music from the album can only be heard in excerpts.

It tells about remembering a lost love and accepting that to get over a betrayal, you must sometimes let go. Great reaction folks! I hope y'all enjoy the journey! You'll never know what to expect from song to song, or even within a song. As for NW never performing with a live orcherstra, I read somewhere, so I don't know how true this is, that Toumas thought there would be too many elements to have everything work perfectly during a performance. He's definitely a perfectionist. I've seen videos compiled from several concerts, using the same video and audio for a particular song, and it's almost impossible to tell the segments were from different shows. 🙂

@@trfatman I definitely get the criticism though. Generally here on the channel we do much longer reactions to full-length albums and we focus on production things. For example we focus on the mix and the mastering and panning and if we can make an educated guess how things were recorded... All of which are better talking about while you can hear the example playing. If I wanted to talk about the deep meaning of a song or explain some vague concept I could do that afterwards and you wouldn't have to be listening to it, but I just feel like it's better to talk about production things while you can hear the music. Anyway, that all goes to say that we are used to talking over the music and commenting on things that are slightly more objective rather than trying to feel the entirety of the song and give our subjective opinion after we've heard it. This might not be the right way to reply to this particular comment but I've been trying to think about how to word that in relation to how everybody is replying negatively to this video...
