A really important thing to mention here, when looking at Plot Spectrum, is that your settings are NOT the default ones for Audacity at the time of writing.... So, if you're a time traveler, be sure to pay attention to the settings presented in the video to get your graph looking identical. Algorithm: Spectrum, Function: Blackman-Harris window, Size 1024, Axis: Log frequency Great video, very helpful and informative.

Thanks man. Just to echo here, these settings you view in plot spectrum are ONLY for the very moment you record them. If you change volume, gain, compression, microphone or anything the spectrum will change and you need to reset things.

hows your mixer holding up? i saw you have GoXLR now havent watched yet, but i have a Behringer 1204usb and it started getting a static noise randomly, if i unplug the usb and reconnect it goes away for a while...any knowledge or tips on this issue?
@SDGolfGuy3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I switched all stuff over to the goxlr, so I don't really know how my mixer is holding up. But if you start off fine then noise is added, sounds like perhaps somehow the USB driver is causing the problem. I would probably consider removing all USB drivers that aren't in use or are extra.

Compression: Hardware vis-a-vis Software. How high do you set your compressor knob on the mixer in relation to how you set compressor levels in your software?
@SDGolfGuy5 жыл бұрын
I have no compression on the mixer. Its all software. So 0. Wherever I do the compression the signal I have is completely clean, no EQ, no compression, no nothing.
Do I need OBS if I'm using Adobe Audition CS6 -- or does AA have the ability to make those settings within the program itself? Can those settings (with or without OBS) be established as a default/preset so that I don't have to recalibrate them every time I record?
@SDGolfGuy5 жыл бұрын
Yes, any program can do this to your line in, AA is essentially the same, as long as you're capturing the output from AA in OBS for recording you're all set.
