Sexual orientation is taught in sex-ed classes ages 10 and up in Canada(grade 5 is the earliest I believe, gender identity is taught at ages 13-14 grade 7 or 8), you allowed to make irreversible changes to your body's sex at ages 16, but at 18 they're still too young to _watch_ a civilized debate...

There is plenty to be scared about hearing that audio but the quote you've selected is not one of them. He's not saying that people do not have the right to an opinion, he's saying that not all perspectives on a given topic are valid-he's right about that. For example, the flat earth theory is not valid when trying to explain/understand geomagnetic poles. The problem though concerns the framing and characterisation of the 'sides of this debate', (as being identical to discussing the flat earth theory in the context I mentioned) and the link the speaker is attempting to make between the pronouns issue, and the (kind of) example I cited.
@hen20052 жыл бұрын
@@desoliver9712 I guess it depends how you want to word it. I think the flat earth model is a valid attempt to explain geography (maybe not geomagnetic poles) but it just doesn’t hold up much under scrutiny and when compared to experimental data. I guess what you’re trying to say is that everyone can individually decide how much weight to put on something someone says, all the way from invalid to completely agree. What I meant was all opinions should be voiced and heard, discussed and criticised etc.

I know you are probably just trying to be polite, but you are indulging them in their delusion every time you say ‘they, them’ when referring to their individual pronouns. The fact that you slip up and accidentally call them ‘he/she’ demonstrates that you know there’s no such thing as a “gender-neutral person”. I know you think you’re being a good/kind friend by doing this, but if you truly care about these individuals you would tell them the truth, which is that they are suffering from gender identity disorder and probably need some form of psychiatrical help. The last thing you should be doing is encouraging their false belief that they can identify as another gender.
