Thank You for your interest. It really depends on the volume of the subjects being monitored. Clients have used this surveillance mic in medium sized rooms like 20 x 20 to record normal volume voices. Other clients have installed this mic outdoors to monitor dogs barking 50-60 feet away. We recommend installing these mics with high quality RG59 cable for best performance.

How to check whether our camera supports audio or not?
@cctvcamerapros
@cctvcamerapros 5 жыл бұрын
To check if your CCTV Camera supports audio, look for a RCA or BNC audio output port. If it does not have built-in audio, the microphone in this video can be added to any camera because it is stand-alone. It does not rely on the camera at all. You simply connect it to an audio input on your DVR. You can find more information here on connecting an audio surveillance microphone to a DVR.

I had this mic for a while. But I can't hook it directly to my NVR. It has to plug into the camera. However the microphone had so much white noise that I had to start looking for different solutions.

Hi Evin, I am sorry to hear that you had some trouble. We have supplied this microphone for at least 7 years now and we have not had other reports like this so something must be wrong with the Mic that you have or the application of it. Have you tried hooking the Mic up directly to another type of input source to see if the problem is perhaps with the IP camera? Connecting the Mic directly to the recording device (NVR / DVR) instead of the camera could help too if that was possible. Does the camera you are using have a native RCA / composite audio input? If you are converting it, that could be a problem too. If you need additional help, please email me at mike@cctvcamerapros.net.

You use two separate coax cables. One for video. One for audio.

It depends on how loud the audio that is being recorded is. For normal operations, yes at least 5 meters is good.

shit i wish i would of bought one of these before i filled the hole up that i ran all the wires through. i didnt think i would need a mic, but now after some use a mic would be a great addon. do you have any wireless mice that run on batteries or something? also i have a video and audio output on the back of my box what are those for there not being used for anything. the only thing i can think of is to run it to a vcr or tv or something

I am sorry to say that all of the surveillance microphones that CCTV Camera Pros supplies are hard wired. We do not carry any wireless microphones. The other audio output on your DVR are for speakers. The video output is likely for a spot monitor. A spot monitor output is used to display the live video view of your camera(s), but will not display the DVR's menu system like the regular monitor output does. You may be able to find a wireless microphone system on the market, but if you have any way to run an additional coax cable, I highly recommend a hard wired mic. It is always more reliable.

I have a mic but I need to move it from its current location but the bnc cable has the audio cable built in, I need to move it to a standard bnc cable like the one in your video that's just got red and yellow connectors. I don't want to end up rewiring the entire lot. Is there a way I can add the microphone with a 3 way splitters so I can have audio and video on 1 channel?
@cctvcamerapros
