The 4040 is a work horse sounds good on a lot of stuff.

Guitar cab and don’t want to do the sm57 + Royer thing? try an AT4040! It doesn’t need to be expensive to sound good

Really liked the sounds I was hearing, thank you.

I like that there is an old harrow in your studio. Record a song, plow the fields with a horse, return to the studio for a final mix/master.

My home studio is an 8x9ft DIY treated spare bedroom. It's a cross between a padded cell and a padded coffin. My microphones capture satanic amounts of mud and boom AND stabby, spikey highs. But enough about my troubles. I admire you music very much indeed.

Your guitar wouldn't have sounded that good with an SM57. Ugh. I don't use it on guitar cabs anymore, there's too many better options -- Like a Blue Spark, Sennheiser 441 or e609, or believe it or not, an ElectroVoice Cobalt C04. Audio Technica really improved the shock mount -- you should see the useless one that came with MY AT4040! Complete junk. It's actually holding the mic with a big rubber band -- that's it! I ended up using the mount that came with my AKG C4000B. Far better.
