@@yous9858 There's a ton of knock-offs that are basically reproductions of mid-range mics. If you find a mic you want (like the audio technica 2020) look it up on Amazon and see the mics that come up that look the same but cost like $30. I use a Neewer that was like $20
@yomega694 жыл бұрын
@@yous9858 similarly to our friend above, it works! I think the difference between a $20 condenser and a $150 condenser is insignificant. The interface and software you're recording into tends to make the most difference past getting good raw input, which yeah the $20 neewer does well. Your ability to record cleanly and mix well is more important. Now if money is no object, yeah a $400 shure will be better and a $3,000 manley will be bananas, but for entry level is just go with the simple setup and play around with mixing

I bought several mics before getting an AT2020 around 2015. I had avoided the AT2020 because it was less expensive. Boy did I feel dumb. It's my favorite and the others have pretty much stayed in their boxes ever since. The AT2020 is the cleanest, flattest sounding mic I have with no coloration of the sound that I can detect. It sounds just like the real thing you recorded. It's not so great in a live, deafening loud, rock and roll setting. I prefer the old workhorses like the SM-57 or 58 for that. But if you want to mic a live acoustic guitarist to add some sound reinforcement, and still have it sound to the audience like you're standing right next to the guitarist, this mic does really well. Super clean. As you can see in this video, for studio voice work, it's as good a mic as you'll ever need. You can spend lots more money but it's not going to sound any better.

@techexamined4 жыл бұрын
Actually the SM7B was introduced in 2001.. the SM7 was introduced in 1976.. There was also the SM7A which came out in 1999 with improved some internals..My buddy bought the SM7A in 2000 and used it for his band.. what a killer mic... Also the original was 670 bucks in 1976 which today would be like 3,000 bucks.. So for a truly budget mic to release in 2004 for 169 bucks and still be so popular today is a testament to Audio Technicas quality. They could have easily discontinued this mic and charged 200 for a similar style easily.. Thanks for the history lesson.. even though you were kinda wrong.. thanks for the view and comment.. 👍

Ya know, it's funny, but when you look at the AT-2020, it's like the SM58 by Shure or the Electro-Voice RE20. And models at the $99 from other companies like Rode and Sennheiser; they found a way to make a quality model of microphone that people on a low budget could afford and they maintained that quality for years to come. Thanks for the review sir, I actually just purchased my first AT-2020 ever, it'll be here soon. Also, I subscribed to your channel.
