should we adjust the gain to keep the ambient sound around 12db also or I just keep my original settings while recording the ambient sound? Thank you.

mmmmm. I think you're creating an additional load for the news gatherer. I'd use auto level. You can't adjust levels that fast and it never fails it's either too high or too low when you start. And that could be the most important part. And adding a microphone is just more of a load. The built-in mics are VERY high quality. But you should add a dead cat for wind noise. If you WERE going to use an external mic, make it a lav. As for missing questions of the producer ON MIC, just ask the question later. You record ambient just for that reason..so you can mix down later. And what's with the cell phone dude? Loose that for sure. When handling the zoom you DO need to be careful of noise from your hands. Practice and you'll be fine. Earphones are a good idea though. And don't forget that the H1 has a 1/4-20 on the bottom for a stand. Sometimes you can screw in a small tripod and hand hold the system that way so you don't get noise. And handy for a sitdown interview situation. And don't forget that the H1 is stereo so you can set up the zoom SIDEWAYS and get the talent on one channel and the interviewee on the other.

The zoom h1 doesn't connect to a camera. You have to sync the audio in your editing software. When you start recording clap and make sure the camera can see your hands. Then in post find where the audio gets really loud then quiet again and line it up to when you clap. Then it will be synced

great videos! Thanks for taking your time to make these. But has this a line out to coonect to the line in of a camcorder? So when I filming something I have audio and video at once? is this possible or not?

Thanks for the Tutorials, they were good for me, because I want to start recording interviews, podcasts, vlogs, etc. I am trying to find a microphone for the Recorder, which one did you use? Or is there a better microphone you recommend me? Greetings from Spain.

can you cut the part you dont want ? even if its in middle ? if so witch recorder dose that ? pls ;

Can i ask? It looked like you used a regular dynamic microphone, that more often than not comes with an XLR connector. Is it ok to use a XLR to 3.5 mm mono mini jack to connect to the Zoom H1? Isn't the mini jack input on the Zoom H1 unbalanced? Or is this not a problem? If not - i'm buying one right away.

and never Ever hold your cell phone in the same hand as the microphone. Mikes can pick up all sorts of weird artifact from phones.

Informative videos, well done. The ding sound is annoying though.
