Audiotechnica ATH-AD700x Gaming and Audiophile review (vs Sennheiser HD58x)

Great review, Ryan! Thanks for bringing attention to the ATH-AD700x! Highly recommend the Audio-Technica ATH-R70x to you. It has a similar open back design with great quality bass, balanced with wonderful vocals/mids, good highs, and soundstage. Some people say Audio-Technica used Sennheiser's beloved HD600 as a model for its tuning (but with greater bass, more like the Sennheiser HD 650). The ATH-AD900x is another nice/affordable model. I am about to try out the Audio-Technica ATH-550Z closed-back for fun to compare. Enjoy! Best wishes from Canada!

I've been using these for years. The most comfortable set of cans. Great for competitive FPS, okay for music. Overall I really like them.

More depends... on the music in particular. If you want some Radiohead or lowfi hiphop or acoustic music, they're amazing. Metal?.... I'm grabbing my Grados.

how does the ath AD700X handle rock music? I'm a huge fan of symphonic rock/symphonic metal. So while it's nice to hear that orchestral instruments come in beautifully, I'm curious about rock music.

What do you think about using headphones with a digital EQ on PC to make up for the missing bass or missing treble on these (and similar) headphones

@@likafoss digital eq works for headphones but i always suggest people just buy the headphone that has good tuning to begin with. If you already own a headphone you can just digital eq to make it sound more like what you want

After eq on pc its amazing sounding headphones! Equalizer apo on pc, 30 eq points. Try it.

Hi, Is the cable detachable from the headphone, I mean the cable has a connector that plugs into the left driver or the cable just comes out of the headphone? Also notice the impedance is 38 ohms vs high impedance in the Senheiser 58x, It means you can connect de Audiotechnica direct to your phone, tablet or PC/Notebook without an aplifier. Only downside is they´re way open so you must be in a very quiet room to listen to the Audiotechnica ATH-AD700x, if there is a person talking or a windows to a lane or traffic and your expirience is ruined, ask me how I know,

they both are good for imaging and soundstage, but epos h6 pro sounds better with a more refined tuning

epos h6 pro open, it has more bass and less treble emphasis and also has good imaging. Its a more fun sounding headphone

Ah as you said I must say low bas and bass is non existent, It beguin to respond int the 100hz band and the highs are piercing , painfull loud compared to mids and low mids (as I said bass is non existent) so I don´t recommend this headphones, you can get for less money Audiotechnica M40 or M50 are closed and sound amazing, the M40 is the best headphone I´ve had since 2000, bought 3 pairs to spare
