I do not use mixcraft, but you can often get it very cheap in podcast or music production Humble Bundles, along with piles of samples and maybe a couple VSTs.

Mixcraft is without a doubt the best Digital Audio Workstation in the DAW industry. Plus, It is very easy-to-use. I've used Mixcraft for 4 years now. From Mixcraft 9 (2020) to Mixcraft 10.5 (2024), I'm going to pass the torch to a new DAW. That is actually Cubase 14. I'm planning on purchasing the Elements edition. Then, I'll purchase Mixcraft 10.5 Recording Studio as my 2nd DAW of choice. You never know. I might just upgrade to the Pro Studio edition of Mixcraft 10.5 in the foreseeable future. Again, You never know 😉. Cubase 14 Elements & Mixcraft 10.5 Recording Studio will be an excellent pair of Digital Audio Workstations. So for many music genres, Orchestral, Rock, Country, Hip Hop, etc.

Cubase Elements is very nice but if you already use Mixcraft and enjoy it then you may want to stick with it. Mixcraft 10.5 Pro Studio is solid. But Cubase comes with some nicer plugins. Both are solid programs though and having both of them available to you will be great. If you have Landr Studio you can grab Cubase LE for free. It's limited to 16 audio tracks and 8 virtual instrument tracks but it can be a great introduction to the program. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍

You're correct. Cubase 14 Elements is a very nice introduction to make music. Like i mentioned, I'm passing the torch from Mixcraft 10.5 & i'll be using Cubase 14 Elements as my primary DAW. Then i'll upgrade to Cubase 14 Artist in the foreseeable future. My gameplan is that i'll try out the 60 day (2 month) trail of Cubase 14 Pro. Then, I'll purchase the Elements edition of Cubase 14. That way by when those 60 days are up, I've already gotten use to the workflow.

Great video, as always. About GarageBand: I learned on it about 15 years ago, and graduated to Logic Pro, but GarageBand today is so different from the older versions, I probably couldn't figure it out now 🤷♂️🤦♂️
@AudioTechTV17 күн бұрын
For me Garageband feels like hitting roadblocks constantly. You can get stuff done but there's slow downs every step of the way. I'm sure once you get used to it, it's fine and all other programs will seem weird but it's a workflow that I just can't get into. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍

why does everyone hate Cakewalk so much.. I think it's the name.. haha

If you aware about the update that it's no longer free then yeah, I'm sure that's the reason why.

I never said I hate cakewalk. I’ve actually done tons of videos on it and have recommended it quite a bit. So I recommend it as a beginner friendly program? No. That doesn’t mean I hate Cakewalk.

Being an old analog guy I started recording and mixing on on the computer 2 years ago and learned on cakewalk,which is still use to record and edit on and mix on luna,which I bought right when it was offered for windows

I prefer Traction Waveform The Only Problem is the really weird Mixer
@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn15 күн бұрын
What's weird about it??? You can change the view btw, bottom right corner, those "dashes" are the different meter layouts in the mixing view. Just wondering what you find weird. I came straight from analogue consoles to WF and I didn't think it weird at all.
@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn15 күн бұрын
Oh, and you can drag the lines up and down to adjust the sizes of the segments too.

@@makebeats-y9o At this point I have to ask. You do press M to bring up the mixing desk view, which you've tweaked using the symbols at the bottom right, and then adjust the height of each section by dragging up or down the horizontal borders of the sections in that view? I ask because I guess while in the tracking view they appear as plugins, and you could add another instance, in the mixing view they are part of the channel strip and not the list of plugins. I'm not trying to break your balls for the hell of it, I've just been using it exclusively since '21, and I'm still not sure what you're talking about.

The Oxide Tape saturation effect: could I buy this and put it on my Studio1 Artist?
@AudioTechTV16 күн бұрын
You can buy oxide tape from universal audio and use it in studio one. If you buy the Luna pro bundle then yes you can also use Oxide and the other plugins in Studio One except for the API summing which is only available as a Luna Extension. If you download the free Luna then the Oxide tape only comes as a Luna extension so you can’t use it in other programs.

I don't think FL Studio belongs here, it can be incredibly confusing for beginners to learn.
@AudioTechTV16 күн бұрын
It was the one I learned on and it totally made sense to me. I caught on pretty quick which is why I included it. I think it’s a very easy one to get started with. I can appreciate that not everybody is the same which is why I’ve included others on this list too.

The thing with Reaper is that if you can learn it, then you're well set to learn essentially any other DAW. Reaper is like a manual shift car that diligently does what it's told through an interface that makes total sense once you've had things properly explained to you. For the dabbling user who likes to figure things out by clicking on things and seeing what happens, Reaper can be _very_ confusing. But it's an example of an app where the learning curve is front-loaded (the hardest bit is at the start), and once you've learned to like such apps, you prefer them, since once that initial learning curve is out of the way, things get efficient after that. There are many editing tasks that are quick and easy in Reaper that would be an order of magnitude slower in other DAWs. But it can be overwhelming for beginners not accustomed to such a learning experience.
