Audition Self Tape EXAMPLES that booked 💲 TAPE to ONSCREEN

You ever wonder who ended up booking that self-tape you never heard back on? I do all the time. It's weird not seeing your "competition" in the audition waiting room now that we are in Post Covid Times and its a fact--we MUST adjust to self-taping. Here are 5 examples of ACTUAL TV auditions that booked from a self-tape, and the onscreen version of their tape. Special thanks to all these actors who gave their tapes and portions of their reel for learning purposes only. GEORGINA REILLEY
Fun Fact: Georgina is English and so when she turned on her accent for this audition, she changed the words a bit to suit how a British person would talk.
For example: apt=flat
This gave more authenticity to her character and made it more personal as well. Georgina is an ACTING CENTER LA Alumni.
TAMARA MESKIMEN
Fun Fact: Tamra wrote the chord progression and song melody on her guitar for the song that was written in the script. Obviously it was a hit! So she now has writer credit for this episode, as well as actor credit on IMDB. Tamra is also a coach at The Acting Center LA
David Paladino
Fun Fact: David booked this in the middle of the pandemic and got to fly twice to Mexico to shoot this.

Adel Telesia
Fun Fact: Adel got this audition unexpectedly in the middle of her move to GA through her GA agent, and nailed it. A week later she shot it in NYC. SADLY we were not allowed to use the clip but her self tape is still worth watching. She ended up booking Dynasty.
Gino Montesinos
Fun Fact: Gino did his self tape during class at the ACTING CENTER LA at the end of the night in front of a live audience of other classmates. He got one of his fellow classmates to shoot it while another played the reader and it only took 1 take. SADLY we were not allowed to use the clip but his self tape is still worth watching. He ended up booking Chicago Med and the clip can be found on IMDB.

Not weird at all! The actors had a take on the character that got them noticed. Then they got directed to what the show wanted. I feel the same way!

For sure. I actually haven’t booked and self tapes only live zoom auditions. But I’ve gotten several callbacks and producer sessions, even pins from my tapes. When the show airs I will put my auditions up and who got the part to see the comparison though!

I’m not aspiring to become an actor as I am just average looking dude with baggy eyes, but I have been on a kick the last few months learning about the career of acting. It’s so fascinating and I really love the idea of it of bringing emotion to the table to story telling. It’s all about storytelling. I love that. Maybe I could do voiceover stuff. Just kinda looking to try some things at this point.

Hey man - the vast majority of actors aren't movie star, perfectly handsome people. What matters in this industry is talent and hard work!! If you have talent and work hard, you will achieve success...don't let the self-perception of your looks deter you from starting an acting career...you may have just the right look a producer is searching for!!

What does that matter? The casting director asked them to tape themselves, they didn’t go in an office. That is by definition a SELF-TAPE. How you get it done is up to you
