There's a reason Trent chose him and it's the same reason he's now the youngest person in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - dude can play...like everything...really damn well. In I think 2013 Trent asked him if he could play cello, Ilan said no but I will and went off and learnt it for the tour which was only a few weeks away. Also The New Regime is a killer 1 person project.

The studio recording of Piggy is actually one of the very few live pieces of drums on the album, mostly just the drum fill sections towards the end of the song. Trent actually played it himself to test out his mic setup, liked it so much he kept it on the record. I am sure he overdubs another drum fill as well in the latter part of the solo.
