What you don't understand is that police come in predisposed to Despotism and authoritarianism. You can not take a freedom loving citizen and change that mindset with six months of training . The academy only hones that predisposition but does not cause it. That is why no matter where you go, police all act the same.
@EvansvilleJill5 жыл бұрын
A thousand hours, specifically of de-escalation training?! Maybe I misunderstood and you were giving the total number of hours in general training that recruits have before they become officers. The vast majority of law enforcement departments in the US offer NO de escalation training. Thirty-four states have no requirement for officer de escalation training. In fact there is a group of police educators that believe de escalation training puts officers at increased risk of harm. Milwaukee works with a company called Vistelar for "Non-escalation/De-escalation" courses. Vistelar only offers a 4-5 hour course to Milwaukee's PD officers for de escalation training. Considering that of the law enforcement officers that do receive de-escalation training in this country the average amount of time is only one hour each year, if it's continued training. Ironically the number one reason given for why PD's don't offer the training is money. Courses can range from $10,000 to $200,000 annually and those numbers are considerably less than settlements that taxpayers are forced to pay out when officers fail to de-escalate and Rights are violated and/or injuries are sustained.

there is no incentive for any cop to follow their department guidelines until the cops themselves are fined so they have to pay out of their own pockets when they mess up

There’s truth in your opinion, however, the moment that becomes statute/law, the official pay/wage of all officers my be increased dramatically. Not because it gives them more power to make these stupid decisions, but instead to give more incentive for those who must work in these areas. Following a statue like this, thousands of officers would be fined and more would quit, purely because everyone’s human. While these seem to be like minimal changes and would make the world better, the details of said statute would be have to be so specific and purposeful just to be recognised as “fair” or “constitutional”

Max à Million uhhhhhh not trying to be rude, but I don’t think people can handle themselves, what’s stopping everyone from turning on each other and having all out brawls and purges? It’s definitely not ego or principle, it’s the consequences. You can’t just remove police and expect life to go on better, police are in fact a necessity, and disagreeing with that fact would be barbarous, however, incompetent police, I definitely agree, we do NOT need incompetent police to control the people, it just makes it worse for the governing power and for the people. So while your statement is highly wrong and leaves out necessary information, I’ll like and agree... formally... Compris?

@@Rhaspun unfortunately, no matter what a black person does or doesn't do, the mere color of his skin will have them "pull up". That's exactly what we are talking about that you all just can't seem to grasp. Your "white privilege" keeps you from having to experience this. There are MULTIPLE videos proving this and until you all can grasp this "simple" truth you will continue to try to justify these crooked cops` actions. Again, WE DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A REASON!... Think about this: Sterling Brown, by contractual agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks, has a "morals clause" and team rules he must comply with. Along with the NBA Code of Conduct. Art.6 sect. 6.7 of the CBA says: " When a player is convicted of (including a plea of guilty, no contest, or nolo contendere to) a violent felony, he shall immediately be suspended by the NBA for a minimum of ten (10) games." Article 6.15 also says: *_"A Team shall not impose discipline on a player solely on the basis of the fact that the player has been arrested. Notwithstanding the foregoing, (a) a Team may impose discipline on a player for the conduct underlying the player’s arrest if it has an independent basis for doing so, (b) nothing herein shall permit a Team to discipline a player for his failure to cooperate with a Team’s investigation of his alleged misconduct if he has a reasonable apprehension of criminal prosecution, and (c) nothing herein shall prevent a Team from precluding a player from participating in Team activities without loss of pay to the extent it otherwise has the right to do so._*" Sterling Brown, a young professional athlete, showed more restraint and responsible behavior than the sworn officers of the MPD. Think about that.
