@@rodamisprime1497 I think the original officers were very calm and collected. The 2 backup were the aggressors. The original officer said to "watch him", not take him down. He turned his back for a minute and when he got back the backup was taking the man down. I don't fault the original officer for that.

@@secularsam7678 - This was a skewed video. Audit the Audit assumed that the couple escalated the situation to a physical altercation. From this video, we don't know what occurred away from this officer's body cam. The couple were certainly unreasonably hostile (verbally), but that doesn't mean that they became physically hostile. And even if they did become physically violent, that wouldn't have allowed the officers to use excessive force. Also, the city settling for $500K isn't necessarily an indication that they had additional evidence that showed one or more officers to be at fault. But it certainly isn't necessarily an indication that the city was too quick to settle when there was no evidence of misconduct by any of the officers. It seems that we don't know enough to make strong conclusions.

Luminus Art I agree. We can talk about all the shit that the cops did wrong all day but the bottom line is if she would have just stopped right there this whole thing would have been over in about 5 minutes like any other normal traffic stop. “Hey man you pulled out in front of us that’s kinda dangerous/is an illegal turn )whatever the case may be here ) let’s be a little more careful next time “ is probably all she would have gotten. But no she just had to say fuck y’all and drive all the way down the road to her house while also throwing her hands out the window at them already showing signs of aggression.

Yeah, the settlement is split 3 ways. Lawyer, and we all know get 30-40 percent. Medical for past and future expences, gets 20-30 percent or more. Then how much is the hell worth from gettin beat by Racist cops, who know just how to hurt you (training) and its their mental drug cuz a lot of they get wired up from adrenaline and go onto survival mode like in the military...take out any threat. Then to suffer thru the damn racist legal system, lawyer included, while they they take a large chunk to it. And last is all the physical, mental and emotional problems after the initial trama. Just glad they didnt get shot, cuz they were out of camera range. The witness of the girl saved the black manz ass.

It isn't fucking true and there is enough video evidence showing people not doing anything and not disobeying orders still getting arrested, beaten or killed. 2.) Do you also believe that Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Leonardo Da Vinci or any other person who is famous for the change they brought through disobedience should have just obeyed? They wouldn't have been starved, forced to march thousands of miles, arrested, had dogs and hoses turned on them and various other injustices that were inflicted on these people for their disobedience. However if everyone just obeyed then our world would be stuck in the dark ages still. Now to head a potential strawman off at the pass I will say that the people in this video aren't affecting any great social change on their own. That still doesn't change the fact that you are arguing we should all just obey our masters and if we did that, we'd still have slaves and we'd all still be forced to answer to the Church. I actually disagree with you on several points. Considering we didn't see the entire incident and only have a list of injuries to go on for the eventual physical struggle, I respectfully disagree with the grade of an A- for the police. It could be said that the police earned that A- if the interaction had ended with the video, but it didn't end there and you graded the couple including the physical altercation without proof that they fought back. If the whole stop was shown, we could see who started the "scuffle". Who, how, why and where it began is extremely important. I can say this, if one of the cops became offended by the couple's foul mouths and initiated or ramped up the battle because they were butthurt then the police don't just lose the A- they would all flunk out. The injuries the couple received are not exactly common injuries of police detainments or arrests. It takes a lot to cause a brain injury and broken bones. The list also makes me wonder why there are no injuries for the cops. If the couple had fought back enough that it required the police to use such force it's highly unlikely that the cops all got away clean. And we all know if any of the cops had been injured they would have publicized those injuries first and included more specific charges. Yes, they did charge the woman with a felon assault, but again we lack the details of the charge and it was dropped. I think it's fair to bring up that an assault on a police officer isn't always a real assault. Sometimes it's just a charge they hope will stick and this one didn't. I even have doubts about whether the couple fought back at all. I find it reasonable to believe that once the cops went hands on that the couple would have slowed their roll considerably. Not too many people would have continued to verbally attack those that are breaking bones and causing brain injuries. At that point most people would have been begging for mercy for themselves and the loved one that it's happening to too. Saying that the officer didn't escalate this and that they kept their egos in check without proof of how these people became injured so egregiously and not taking into consideration that a jury sided with the defense earns you a D+. Sorry dude. And FYI, I do not endorse losing your mind and becoming a foul mouthed jerk to police. I realize that certain groups of people, like interracial couples, are known to be harassed by police frequently. I know the anger can build and build until you feel you're going to explode. Maybe don't do it on their turf. Protest, file a complsint, sue them, just don't endanger your self.

Well said! It appears that the backup arrives and further escalates the situation after being instructed to "keep an eye on him...he's amped up" We don't see the citizens engage in physical resistance at all up to that point, so we shouldn't assume they suddenly decide to fight the police. Cops often arrive on scene and engage without knowing the circumstances surrounding the call.

For what was shown, I think the officers did fine at keeping calm and just trying to proceed without incident. All I can go off is the evidence shown. As for the couple, they clearly do not know how to control themselves. If you start yelling and barking orders at a cop on duty, you have to know that you're only escalating things. As for the medical charges, I have to take that as only possibly true. They were filed some time after the incident, and by people who obviously had a bias. Since we aren't shown video of the altercation, I have trouble believing that these apparently calm officers did that much damage. I think that was the point of discussing "settling cases" at the end of the video. Of course, if the officers DID go full force and inflict those injuries, they should have been let go and faced punishment for assault and what they did. This video is incomplete and it's much harder to say who is right or wrong without seeing more.
@brandonliles
@brandonliles 5 жыл бұрын
@@blueclaws9894 injuries are easily verified by a physician, so I'm curious how your expertise makes room for any doubt. Are the citizens supposed to claim injury before the incident? What is a proper time frame that would satisfy your sensibilities? Your comment about "obvious bias" is a bit odd as well. If I hit you with my car and you file an injury claim, can I attempt to lessen its validity by saying you are biased against me? You mentioned the cops were calm, but I see the 2nd group of responding officers approach the boyfriend when he was off to the side, well away from the "action zone." He was calm and out of the way at that point in the video.

@@brandonlilesyou have a good point about the second wave of officers. Most cops wait for backup to arrive before losing their cool and the backup comes in ready to rumble way too often. Those quasi facts only strengthen the idea that the cops are the bad guys here. Bad guys don't earn A-'s.

@@brandonliles Did we watch the same video? Or did the guy not call the cops "children" constantly? From their attitudes alone, you can tell they have a degree of bias against cops. And as for being calm, the officers were absolutely calm. They only took action due to escalation. The couple would not just simmer down. As for the injuries, I clearly stated that all I have to go by is the evidence shown. I'm not saying they lied about them. I AM saying false injury claims exist. Because I'm sure no doctor ever has falsified reports to make a buck. Oh and there's clearly no such thing as pill mills because all doctors are always completely ethical. Finally, AGAIN, my comments were based only on the video provided. Talk to me about that instead of a scenario that maybe, possibly could have happened.

The cops have little to do with this case and the charges in this instance. That has to do with the DA and higher ups of the municipality. Further, the settling of a case or charges being dropped hold no bearing on if the story was falsified or not. Charges can be dropped if it would be more costly to take it to trial or have too much of a adverse effect to outweigh the benefits of getting the conviction. Sometimes, due to lack of evidence to know that they can get a convection will cause them to drop; the ability to prove something is completely different from if it actually happened (like you can not prove to me what color underwear you are wearing right now, even though you are (not) wearing it right now, where's your proof; any picture taken after right now will only be proof that you wore that after the fact). But I do agree with their counsel getting an A+, even though it could be seen they were making the situation worse and being aggressive, so not unbelievable that they made this become physical, was still somehow able to convince the people they needed to get a settlement out of court, that is pretty good in my book.

there are multiple reasons why the city could have paid out half a million. to avoid a long drawn out lawsuit where the police could or could not be found to be at fault, because they mistakenly believed the police to be at fault, because they correctly believed the police to be at fault, because they were worried about public backlash if reparations were not made rapidly, and probably a litany of other reasons i cant think of

I have to disagree with your analysis of this arrest. The camera does show the officer remaining calm during the first part of this video. In the whole video can you really say that about the back up officers. They all go over the black guy and which have nothing to do with the stop. The man is at his house. You can see them surrounded him which make the girl go over to say there. The officers even make them bump into each other during the altercation. They accelerated an already tense situation.
