Sometimes I think my greatest joy in watching hiking vlogs comes from seeing and hearing the vlogger's reaction to the awe and grandeur of the natural world. I long to see their response to the pageant of the seasons, the magic of the dawn, the glory of a sunset, the music of the bird choir, or the perfumed beauty of countless flowers. But most of all, I thrill to see how a vlogger makes a connection between God and their response to nature. Do they see God's glory in the mountains? Do they sense His presence in the clouds, feel His peace by the rivers, marvel at His power in the weather, appreciate His ingenuity in the animals of the forest, or recognize His provision and sovereignty in the sources of water? So, at 8:42 when North Star said, "There is no denying God's existence when you're up here," she made my day. To stand where she stood in a scene that no artist could ever depict nor could man ever create, is to be reminded that man made the cities and God made the mountains, and you can sure see the difference. Thank you, North Star. I like what I hear from your lips, but much more I love what I hear from your heart.

Old Girl …. I laughed out loud in a coffee shop when you said that & people strongly looked at me. I remarked well you have to be there to understand. You deal with unforeseen roadblocks well. And yes the views at the altitude you are hiking at in Colorado you do acknowledge yes the is a God…. Wow what he created! ❤😊

Well, you have made me commit to hiking some of that trail next year despite being at a very advanced age. In earlier decades I hiked all over that area before there was a CT and climbed many of the Collegiate Peaks. Ice mountain my favorite. Might as well try, nothing to loose.

FYI you can set up the Durston X-Mid (or any trekking pole tent) using the “Little Rock, Big Rock” method (no stakes). Next time you have some free time you might practice it (you can find posts/videos online) so you’ll know what to do should you ever lose your stakes again. I’m heading to Denver tomorrow to start my own CT thru hike! I just found your videos and am watching them ahead of my own trip. Hike on!
