HOW MY STYLE HAS CHANGED: In today's video I'm sharing how my style has changed. I'm looking back at some of my outfits from the last few years and then restyling them the way I'd wear them now. Doing this helped me see the tangible ways my personal style is evolving and I hope it will inspire you to do the same to help you find your style too. Thank you so much for watching xx Audrey

I always forget you’re short like I am! Do you get most of your bottoms altered? what are your favorite stores/brands? I have such a hard time finding things that fit. I’m 5’1”and 105lbs so I look like I’m drowning in most clothes
@AudreyCoyne
@AudreyCoyne 3 жыл бұрын
I know the feeling! I’m 5’3” and very small framed (105-110lbs) so nearly everything is too big when I buy it. For pants though, I have long legs for my body so I actually don’t usually need to have the length taken up. My legs are about 34” long and my inseam to the floor is 30” which is good for pants but then every top is too long haha. The tailor is truly my best friend and even now I still need to have about 50% of my wardrobe tailored but I space it out and make it work until it’s perfect. Also, for tops I have better luck with tighter cuts and materials than I do with oversized. If it’s oversized to begin with then it will likely be huge on me. I hope that helps 🤗

@@AudreyCoyne your new hairstyle adds so much energy to your look! bravo! I really like the preppy wardrobe in this video. I had no idea you are 5'3" :o! Your long legs make you look much taller. I know a lot of fashion youtubers think they have to constantly update their wardrobe and buy new items for their videos but I love that you rewear the same pieces in different ways! It’s amazing how your style has changed even with just a few tweaks. Thanks for the inspiration and for setting a great example to us all :)

Thank you for sharing your style journey with us, Audrey. I have recently realized that having a capsule wardrobe of classic pieces can fall a little flat if each piece doesn't represent who you are inside. I want each piece to represent who I am, so, the next step in my journey came to me when I saw your video on the Kibbe body types. I am so excited!!!! I have been texting back and forth with Elyssa...and will set up a consultation with her after the first of the year...So FUN.. cant wait!!!

I think our style will be for ever evolving and thank God! otherwise we would stop watching fashion videos. I really like that you are using pieces you have in your closet for a long time and showing how you can adapt to change with a few tweaks and a few new purchases. I do that a lot, I like to stroll through Instagram and pick up some ideas from my favourite "fashionistas" that I can reproduce with what I have. Sometimes it is only mixing pieces in a way that I had not thought about!!!

Ok I finished watching and I so enjoyed this! I gasped at the navy/white belt combo, lol! So chic! To answer your question about our own style journeys, I’m trying to work toward achieving a style that flows across the various parts of my life. I used to think of style moslty for work looks, as my time at home was often spent in just jeans and ill fitting t-shirts (t shirts are my nemesis) because off time was filled with playing with the kids, parks, chores, errands and cooking. And my style changed based on where I worked. I was always drawn to corporate office looks, nice suits and dresses, and I embraced that for a while at my current job. But I see now that this look isn’t always flattering on me. It is sometimes aging, or just doesn’t do much for me. I see this in hindsight through pictures. The pandemic has really helped me rethink how I put outfits together so that I feel professional on camera, but not overdressed if I’m making lunch or dashing out to the grocery store. I started working from home in March and decided to keep wearing some of my favorite work pieces - I thought I have nice things, I want to keep wearing them! Watching your channel has also inspired me to relook at accessories I had forgotten about: scarves, necklaces, rings. So this week for example I wore a white tee (proper fit!), black cardigan and a pearl necklace I had all but forgotten about. The necklace changed the whole outfit. I I wore the same tee under a denim shirt with a silk scarf another day, which was both work and home appropriate. Your channel is a major inspiration for me, so thank you Audrey!

I loved watching your video! I just turned 67, am retired and now live out in farm country in Vermont. When we first moved to Vermont I changed my style completely from classic to very country casual and some times very,very country casual. I guess I wanted to fit in and the environment and weather were very different from where I lived on Cape Cod. I’m now working on getting my style back, a style that is me. Thank you for all your wonderful videos they have been so helpful. ❤️

Love your updated versions and colors! Works perfectly with you. I would consider accentuate your long legs and replacing the ankle length pants with full length. I think this would perfect your looks. You can’t possibly have too long of legs! (my opinion🙄). I would say my style has changed to a simpler color palette (more white, blue and cream, more casual and more fun in my shoes and colorful bags) this was the opposite of what I used to do.

This was a great video! I think style does continually change and people box themselves in if they don’t let it happen and appreciate the changes. My style has three main influences (60s mod, punk-y, and California laid back/surfer-ish - a weird trio, I know! Lol) and I used to lean heavily into the 60s mod influence, so a lot of vintage statement pieces and pop-art color combos. Nowadays I lean more into the punk-y side, with more black and white, studs and metallics. I still wear touches of all three, but the emphasis has shifted. I’m with you on the green obsession, though- dark bottle green is one of my all-time faves and it’s so great that it’s having a moment so items are easier to find in green!!!

Interesting video, Audrey. I loved seeing the changes in your styling. Knowing ourselves is important and just as important is realizing that we are ever growing and new facets of our personalities will emerge along the way. Not allowing ourselves to be tempted by a rut, no matter how comfortable it is, is sometimes tough. It's not that the past choices were wrong and the new ones are right. It is that we are no longer the exact same person. Happy adventure!

Yes. Yes, yes the scarf up by your face and your naturally curly hair at that length loosens up your quite conservative classic look....Parisian women do this, they wear dark severe colors but then they soften the look around the face with scarves and more natural makeup and scarves, more than most American women. On you it is a big change with your classic line clothing, a GREAT one...never straighten your beautiful hair again. It gives you such softness which really carries through your wonderful soft voice, delicate movements etc. The contrast between structure, hard masuline fabrics like tobacco leather and wools in masculine suiting colors with the softness of YOU is just a perfect balance of yin and yang for you....the smooth hair looked too severe on you in my opinion...you need that delicate etherealness of your hair because THAT is your personality expressed in your voice and body movements. It truly IS you! A great balance of yin and yang.

Audrey, you did a beautiful restyle of your items. I am a "light winter", my hair was/is ashe blonde and I have deep green eyes. My palette is you palette. My background is clothing, textiles, and design and I wrote state curriculum in those areas. I am now a professional stylist. The only thing I would like to share with you, is in the picture of the skirt restyled, a sheer dark leg instead of bright skin would keep the line flowing smoothly. The same thing goes in a restyle with shorter dark boots and a shorter pair of slacks. Some type of dark hosiery would definitely keep the line more smooth. You have some beautiful pieces. I am in love with that scarf! I have discovered Banaris scarves of ultra light merino wool. The colors are bright and beautiful. You might enjoy owing one.

I've said it before, I love so much that you style color. Some people follow trends blindly, everyone is in neutral colors, and some people look better in color. I love the same colors except green, somehow I don't feel good in green. The only green that look good on me is neon green, which is a strange color and hard to incorporate. I noticed you don't wear purple. It is my favourite color and I think it would look good on you to because we have similar hair and face color. Love the last three videos, the best so far although all your videos are very good.

Thank you for your videos. I have learned so much from you especially about re-working old pieces and working with a color palette. One comment however that I disagree with you. I am 5’3” and I am very conscious about my short legs. In your first and last video you show skin in between your ankle boots and the bottom of your skirt or top of your pants. My belief is that it adds an additional horizontal line to your frame and actually makes you look shorter. Just a consideration. Again, thank you for your tireless work and helping us along our style journey.

Love the changes! Color blocking and contrast looks really good on you. Could you please share where you got the dark brown laced up boots? I know I've seen them before but I can't recall which videos to look up to find more info on them. I've been looking for a perfect pair!

I really wish we had seasons in Panama City, Panama like they have in Bogota, Colombia cause I really like jackets and coats and the colder weather clothing. I do have 4 leather jackets that I bought in Bogota and I do wear them in Panama (indoors in the A/C) and when I travel to the US or Europe.

(Melanie here) Another question - the white handbag - when do you use a white handbag with the more winter outfit?

I'm also 5'3'' and short waisted ..... however I find that high waisted pants dig into my rib cage. especially when sitting. Do you have this and how do you cope? (Also, I'm pretty sure I'm a natural dramatic; I've always loved draping big dramatic scarves like in that last look you restyled!)

Hi Audrey, I’m like yourself..5’3 and extremely petite, actually verging on very skinny after being unwell.. I’m having trouble though with the shorter styling now popular with trousers/jeans. They just don’t suit me at all as I’m so thin and they really emphasise my bony ankles. Even with short boots I feel uncomfortable in them. I’m a little over 60 now and grew up with the longer length jeans/trousers so it’s probably just conditioning on my part. My question is are longer trousers still ok to wear or should I just persevere? I have to say you’ve become my style guru since discovering your channel. I’ve learnt so much from you as I always have favoured a more classical appearance, but there’s still a little boho left in me due to my age. My guilty secret is that I still embrace that occasionally also! I’ve a long path ahead :) Thanks and take care.

Hi Audrey, I’m new to your channel, and I absolutely love your style. My question is, where do you shop? I live in Orange County, CA. Do you have any suggestions?

Anyone else changing their style due to working remotely and only being seen on camera from the shoulders up? Neckline shapes, fabric patterns & cut, jewelry & glasses, and even hair length have all changed for me.

Hi, how tall/long are those brown boots in that outfit @1:18? Also @7:44, thats a really lovely ensemble, but do you run into trouble with the hems of the pants rubbing onto the tops of the boots? I find it very hard to dress this way unless my boots are lower cut and hem of pants higher. This especially when as we get through the way, my pants may droop a little down depending on how much i eat etc various factors. Thanks.

Lol I'm feeling tall at 5'4" - you and many followers are shorter :) I have always dressed in a classic style - I have changed - I'm still classic but with a modern twist - making it more stylish and more fun.

My style has changed recently. Less hipster, I guess. No graphic t-shirts. No wide leg/slouchy jeans. Just more refined and classic, but still expressive and fun. So my clothes are going back to basics. But my accessories remain. In fact, my accessories become more feminine.
