The Audubon Zoo is an American zoo located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is part of the Audubon Nature Institute which also manages the Aquarium of the Americas. It covers 58 acres (23 ha) and is home to 2,000 animals. It is located in a section of Audubon Park in Uptown New Orleans, on the Mississippi River side of Magazine Street. The zoo and park are named in honor of artist and naturalist John James Audubon who lived in New Orleans starting in 1821.
Exhibits:
FLAMINGO EXHIBIT
The first exhibit at Audubon Zoo features a flock of flamingos in a parade of pink feathers.
ASIA
Journey to Asia and visit some of the beautiful and exotic animals native to this part of the world. Asian elephants, orangutan, Amur leopards, tiger, sun bears, and babirusas.
WORLD OF PRIMATES
The Zoo’s World of Primates exhibit features the western lowland gorillas, striking lemurs, loud siamang, mandrills, and active golden lion tamarins.
JAGUAR JUNGLE
There are recreated ruins and amazing animals like the endangered jaguars, giant anteaters, spider monkeys, macaws, and Brazilian ocelots.
LOUISIANA SWAMP
This award-winning exhibit features Louisiana culture, wildlife and history.
AFRICAN SAVANNA
Visit a zebra, splash around Monkey Hill, see the African Painted Dogs, or feed a giraffe in the Zoo's African Savanna exhibit.
LION HABITAT
Audubon Zoo is swelling with pride! The Zoo's lion family has grown by two! Mom Kali and dad Arnold are the proud parent's of two male cubs, born January of 2020 and named Haji and Asani.
SEA LIONS
Make a splash on your next trip to the Zoo with Audubon’s California sea lions! Audubon Zoo has welcomed a pair of female sea lions who were recovering from injuries and health problems at the Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles in San Pedro. The newcomers have settled in, and have now joined the Zoo’s family of four sea lions.
WHOOPING CRANES
Whooping cranes are rare and endangered beauties. Once thriving, whooping cranes are now the rarest species of crane and North America's most endangered native bird. You can learn more about these birds and see two of these rare beauties at Audubon Zoo. With the help of strong conservation efforts there is hope. In 2016 a pair of Whooping cranes raised their chick in the wild in Louisiana for the first time in 75 years.

Hi Tom, I really enjoy your zoo tour videos and have been watching them daily lately. I love your style-how raw, natural, and minimally edited your videos are. They make you feel like you're literally there in the zoo, unlike some of the shorter, more polished, and heavily edited videos out there. I also appreciate how you capture every little detail in the zoos you visit. You film all the animals in their collections, revisit them multiple times, and record every single information board, scenery item, kiosk, menu, shop, ride-you name it. Your channel really has an archival level of detail. If you revisit the same zoos in the future, the changes in these details will further enhance the channel’s archival value. Regarding this particular video, I found it fascinating to see how zoo animals behave in extreme weather, whether cold or hot. Hearing you share the temperatures during your visit, from early morning until later in the afternoon, and seeing how the animals respond to changes in temperature and sunlight, made it even more interesting. While I understand the need to film every animal a zoo has, this added aspect could be a unique angle to explore during repeat visits. In light of this, one recommendation I have for your future videos is to share temperature and forecast information in each video. It would add another layer of immersion to your already immersive videos, which are so engaging due to the raw editing and other factors I mentioned earlier. For your older videos, perhaps you could add the date of travel in the info box, allowing viewers to look up weather details. Some of your videos already include sections where you talk about the weather when it’s particularly relevant, which I’ve always found to be very immersive, but a consistent approach, like the one I described, could be very helpful. I’m looking forward to watching all your past and future videos. Good luck with your upcoming trips! I’m also eager to see follow-up visits to zoos you’ve already covered. Keep up the great work! Cheers!

Thank You so much, I am really happy to hear you enjoy my zoo tours. I really try my best to showcase not only the animals but the zoo itself. I've had numerous requests in the past to show more of the signage and more of the habitats. I film my tours so the viewer sees everything I see during my visit. Temperature definitely affects my zoo visits. Extreme temperature either way does make it difficult to see everything. Returning later in the day usually gives me the opportunity to see any animals I may have missed. Most zoos give the animals the choice whether they want to stay inside or outside. I usually miss animals during the early morning right after the zoo opens since not all animals are outside yet. I never thought of mentioning the temperature before each zoo but that's a great idea. I had only mentioned the weather if it was a particularly hot or cold day. It's funny that more often it's the Big Cats that tend to stay inside on hot days. Even though they come from hotter climates. Pampered kitties I guess. Thank You for your fantastic co.mment, I have lots more content that I hope you will enjoy

@@TomsRoadTrippin Thanks for the reply, and I'm glad you liked my feedback! One more suggestion I can think of is to include behind-the-scenes tours in your videos. I don't know if zoos allow filming such VIP experiences, but that would be pretty cool. Perhaps you could make separate videos for those. An intriguing title could attract a lot of views. I'm looking forward to your new content! I'll be sure to check out your other categories. I like amusement parks and other roadside attractions too, myself. 🎢

I hope you have a good day Tom 💪! -------------------------- Edit: really enjoyed this one Tom! Sucks that it was a bit chilly and a few animals weren’t out. I do have a question though, we saw otters in two different locations in the zoo, the Asian small clawed otter but we saw another one, but the signage just said otter, would you happen to know the species Tom? I enjoyed seeing that big gator and the snakes and the false gharial! I thoroughly enjoyed the signage all throughout this zoo about the animals, the maya people and the swamp and the history of the Zoo! Overall Tom, awesome Tour! You never disappoint!
