The AUG does maintain zero when switching barrels IF they are the same length. However when you change lengthy change velocity which changes trajectory which changes zero.

If you had an extended rail that went past the receiver you could melt the bipod on that instead of the barrel.

That AUG looks way better with the proper bipod on it! Lol man i loved how you flipped the magnifier out of the way at distance and your group size immediately shrank from 12 MOA down to 2-3 MOA LOL. Cant make that stuff up!
@triplefshooting Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that magnifier will be retiring shortly! Wish I knew what the deal was, but I'll take the groupings at 1x for sure!

@@triplefshooting what is the furthest range you've managed with that longer barrel? I've had people tell me, "with the right optics" you can get a kilometer (1000m)? ty
@triplefshooting Жыл бұрын
@ghostwriter1415 I've not pushed it more than 250 so far. I can get up to a 400-yard range but haven't yet. I imagine it will still hit with some authority at 400. I've honestly never been able to shoot further, so I can't speak from experience.

The extra velocity from a 24" bbl (about 3250 fps) will raise your point of impact. Any downward force on the grips will bend the bbl up due to the bipod -- another intermittent rise in POI. Your magnifier is likely not at fault. Ideally, the bipod should be attached to the underside of a free float forend fixed to the top rail/receiver, like new factory A3M2 variant with QD factory handguard or Corvus Defensio forend handguard and rail for the A3M1, allowing the barrel to droop naturally to its base harmonics. I just purchased the 24in bbl 1:9 twist (I wish 1:7), the 300 BO 16in, in 1:9, and the 20in in 1:7 from Steyr USA, now that the factory stuff is in, and you can buy a barrel bundle! I want to shoot the 77 gr SMK and OTM in the 16 and 20 in 1:7 twist. I shall try 62 gr M855 in the 24in and see if I can get 600 yd 2 MOA. Then see what weight rounds I get out to distance in the 69 and 77 gr loads with 24in bbl! I think I will put a Corvus free float on the front, and make my A3M1 a suppressed battle rifle with the QD mount SilencerCo Hybrid 46M suppressor with 30 cal front suppressor cap for one size fits all! Nice review! 👍👍

The ONLY change I made to my 24" was increasing springs pressures on the bipod extenders and lockup. They were far too weak and deployed every time when handing the bipod.

My dad ended up buying the last ar rpk upper that klein had with a ratworx bipod on it. I'll still have to buy one when they come back to replace it
@Senator-Wary Жыл бұрын
Have you tried bumpfiring from the bipod?
@triplefshooting Жыл бұрын
The trigger makes it pretty tough. You can rattle a few rounds off fairly quickly, I've just never been worth a crap at bump firing
@Senator-Wary Жыл бұрын
@triplefshooting yeah was thinking the super sponge trigger would make it difficult Try it with the AR-RPK might be way easier and *maybe* more reliable than binary
@triplefshooting Жыл бұрын
@warystatue33bornagain40 that's the plan. My dad recently purchased a fostech lower and it seems much better as far as reliability is concerned. The trigger pull is a bit heavier, but more tactile. I do agree that going to a good lightweight trigger would probably be best

That’s pretty incredible, had KZbin recommended your other video. Just wondering about the barrel accuracy. I’m not going to buy one but if you could only buy the barrel completed with a choice of the gas block and bipod that would be cool. No idea what gas block they are using and what the actual barrel manufacture is.

If I remember right, many of these barrels were made by FN under contract.

I have an AUG, the MRO and a 3x magnifier. I theorize the problem is the MRO's parallax (yes it has some despite being "1x") is made worse by magnification. I had similar issues.
