Today, I am bringing you with me on my budgeting journey. We will be going over the paycheck that I received on August 1, 2019. I am a paycheck budgeter, which means I create a paycheck every time I get paid.
Before, I got paid on the 5th and the 20th, but now that I am self-employed full-time, I get a paycheck once a month, on the first day of every month.
In this video, I walk you through every step of my budget and give you the details into what it looks like to use a successful realistic budget is someone's every-day life.
I have been sharing my real budget for over a year on Instagram, but only recently started sharing my budget on KZbin. By sharing my actual budget, I hope to show you the process and steps behind paycheck budgeting. I also hope it helps you understand the psychological decisions behind money management.

I like how you explain everything. I'm trying to budget so can't afford to put money on this, but I'm loving the process of tracking and saving more. Yay to debt free life! It's the best! I never followed a method, I just prioritize when I spend what I can afford so I don't end up owing.

Hi Miko...I've enjoyed watching your videos since Christmas and subscribed in April. Up until now, I've been applying certain parts of your method to my budgeting routine...what little budget I have lol(only filling my most basic needs CE's but each month is getting better and easier). I have to say, though, I think this is your best vid ever bc your "Zero-based" system FINALLY sunk in!! One half of my brain is very creative and fluid wth ideas, the other is very analytical...so while I love the CE's, I was having a hard time reconciling my numbers at the end of the month. I'm not stupid but math has never been my fave subject lol, but THIS video showed up EXACTLY when I needed it to and after watching it twice, I GOT it! I was definitely makinh2 things way to hard for myself. I am looking at your system like an equation and the heavens have opened and I can see the light lol! I start a new job in September but plan on keeping my two side hustles, plus I'm going to order your BBP workbook as an early BD gift(9/4) to myself. Bywn this video(that I will be referring back to often) plus the workbook, I feel confident my future will be looking brighter! Thank you from the bottom of my❤.

GLindsey • I completely agree! I’m a girl and whilst grateful for the program the ‘cutesy/girly’ designs were difficult to swallow - especially on the cash envelopes. • I also thought of this as a gift for my son but realized it wouldn’t do. • I’d like to suggest a at least a few other options that would appeal to adult mean and young men & Tom Boys like myself!

@chiknlittle
@chiknlittle 5 жыл бұрын
I'm actually contemplating combining our finances so I can get my husband on the same budget system. But I think you'd both have to have separate envelopes for variable spending you do separately (maybe coffee or gas, idk), things you regularly purchase separately. And you would just split the budget in half a fill each cash envelope with half, so you're both limited to the budget still. Then combined things, like for us that would be groceries and sinking funds, you have one envelope that you both contribute to. I do think it would be difficult to do expense trackers though, it would definitely take a lot of organization!

Can anyone suggest an app that will take your monthly bill payments and due dates, compare them to your paychecks and pay dates, and the simply send reminders when to pay bills? I know that probably sounds very lazy on my part. I just have a very busy lifestyle, and would be nice to have some backup to help out. Like for example, if I'm going to be short $100 because one of my paychecks won't be able to cover a full payment, then I Will be able to see that and plan for it. Thanks in advance.

In another video, she also mentioned once her balance gets to a certain point on her "rollover", she adds it to savings or something else (rather than letting it collect indefinitely). I plan on rolling some things over, then saving others that I'm clearly not using all the budget for.

How do you start if you account is Overdrawn? It’s such a viscous cycle that I can’t stop! HELP!
@nancynurse4552
@nancynurse4552 5 жыл бұрын
Being overdrawn is a tough spot that I have found myself in too many times. You have to start by figuring that as a bill that has to be paid first. Then going forward, be very mindful of your account balance. I had to learn to leave all my bill money in my checking account and pull my spending money out and use as cash. To help my daughter out of this cycle, we went back 6 months of her checking statements and wrote out the highest amount of all of her bills and the earliest any of them came out of her account. This way she knows how much to leave in her account at the beginning of her pay cycle and doesn’t touch that account except to verify the bills came out properly.

Can someone please help me with the sinking funds. I am literally so new to this (started 10 days ago) and I am a little confused on the sinking funds. Do you add money to it every paycheck, write the amount on the back and also anytime you use some you write that also? I just want to make sure I am doing it correctly. I get my first student loan payment in February and I am looking forward to getting it done! LOL. TIA

I’m stoked for the new workbook. Do you have a workbook design that’s more gender neutral. My significant other wants to start using it but he’s not a purple and pink fan. 😬

I don't understand why you use James' sinking fund in your income. Wouldn't you be spending it on birthday gifts etc, not putting it towards bills, savings, sinking funds, etc? Do you always add your sinking funds that you are using that paycheck, to your income?
@lucytribble3156
@lucytribble3156 5 жыл бұрын
Roselyn Powell it seems like she is adding that as an income because she is tracking that spending in her expense tracker. If she didn’t include it as income she would look as if she spent more money that she brought it. She does the $0 budget.

Louisiana in most areas you can rent a 2/3 bedroom house for $850. But our cost of living is low. And jobs pays 7.25 ( min wage) and up. But if you have a family, you need to make $13 per hour if not then you are struggling

Not anywhere near me that's for sure! Anything below $1,000 for rent sounds wrong to me, in many places in the country, nowadays.
