IIRC the 6950 is sold these days mostly as a many display adapter with 6+ outputs. Still an okay card from a while back but selling point on Amazon and such seems to be mainly that it has 6 display outs and with daisy chaining can do a lot more.

the HP! 2 years ago I got myself an i5 3470 from an HP office pc. The CPU is running at 4ghz and was quite the finding :) paired with an overclocked r9 280 I'm getting 9k for the graphics and 7k for the physics score (firestrike)... it's somewhat impressive what "old" hardware is capable i think.

One of the fans stopped working on my 7950, I got a replacement set off eBay that works great for ~$15. Too bad the card itself is still being kinda flakey unless I underclock it, but the temps are much better and the fans are quieter than the stock ones were.

Some parts are expensive, some are cheap, it really depends on how well you know your hardware, I've built a couple of Decent PCs for my nephews and cousins for around 6k-30k each, with the 6k one doing over 150fps on cs go and a decent 60 fps on witcher 3 at 1080p stock medium

I had been saving up for a used 480 or 390X or similiar, but with the price craziness I ended up with an EVGA GTX 780 Classified for $99[USD] buy it now off E-Bay. I think I got a pretty decent deal? It seems loads better than my dieing 7950. (I have to Underclock the 7950 to 800Mhz or I get random crashes/occasional artifacting; & yes I cleaned it thoroughly, replaced the fans and the thermal paste.)

I'm liking the Classified, I OC'd it as far as the power limit allows, it seems EVGA built a robust power system in it and I wanna try modding the bios and seeing how far I can push it. It has a dual bios switch so it shouldn't be too risky hopefully.

I had exactly the same computer, only with an i3-2120 inside. It didn't want to boot at all with a graphic card inside. Tried a 1050 and a 730. As soon as I took the card out and used the integrated graphics, it just worked. From the specs I think it simply doesn't provide enough power through the PCI-Express slot. The upgrade list for CPU only listed S and T variants of the CPU. Do you have a full sized i5 inside or a low power variant? I am curious if you manage to get it working in it's original state. The good part of that machine is that the motherboard has standard 24pin connectors. Try hooking it up to a normal sized PSU and use a graphic card with external power maybe?
