skystealth22 Yep, and that's exactly what gets me with Nvidia's response to it. They basically said "its working how it should compared to the GTX 980". So does that include things like micro-stutter? They KNEW the card doesn't have the bandwidth for all the VRAM. Its not slow, its basically choking itself. The only saving grace is its better than running out of VRAM entirely.

690's are awesome dude! In my opinion the best looking GPU made. Please do some 690 sli testing!!!! Would be interesting to see how the 2gb's of vram suffer. The 690 is after all the most powerful GPU with 2gb's of vram on its own...
@barryseaworth7 жыл бұрын
William skagen I'm pretty sure that 690 is a dual gpu card, each gpu sporting 2gb so one card in total has 4gb vram. Two is 8gb. Not sure how that works for most games that don't support sli/dual gpu set ups too well.
@williamskagen99017 жыл бұрын
+barryseaworth I believe it has been confirmed that dual GPU cards fucntion the same way as normal SLI/crossfire, i.e each GPU has its own vram that can't be shared. I should know considering i have a GTX690 laying around!

I've been through the EXACT conversation trying to pick up a used gtx 970. People think because it was sort of expensive when it was brand new, there's NO WAY a lower midrange card is going to devalue it that much. Harumph! I payed good money for my gpu, and no way will it depreciate in value! I don't even bring up the 3.5 thing because i'm not getting into a technical debate on a phone call with a stranger.

I paid 225 for the brand new 780ti thinking I got a bargain because this card was a top class in 2013. There could be no way that lower end card would match its performance...............then I watched gamer nexus video comparing it to newer components.....I got mind fucked. Decided to sell the whole computer I just build with used parts for brand new parts. Ryzen 3 1200 and gtx 1060......still can't believe it give better performance then a 780ti.....WTF
@ArtisChronicles7 жыл бұрын
Interrobang yeah I know what you mean. They don't wanna go less than $250 in Canada as it originally cost them $400-$430 not counting tax or shipping if they had it shipped to them. Basically the same money can go to a better gpu, just the name of the game.
@ArtisChronicles7 жыл бұрын
Syed Gilani haha well that's what happens when the gpu isn't getting new optimizations anymore. I'd personally love to do a 780 ti sli build though. If not for anything more than being curious about sli. Might be overkill for some older games though as that would be what it primarily would get used for.

+DomDaBoss I personally wouldn't upgrade the i7 920 as its REALLY hard to sell on its own without a mobo. Though if you think you can turn a profit upgrading to a X5650 then sure, go for it. If you play at 1080p 60hz, the 690 should be fine as a main GPU for a while (I used it to play at 4k on my TV for some time actually), but if you could trade it for a 780ti or something then do that!
