Augusta Fire/EMA, city officials hold presser on Helene recovery

The State of Georgia dropped the ball in regards to Hurricane Helene! As soon as Helene passed over Augusta and it's surrounding cities and counties, Georgia Power should have been working diligently to restore power. I never saw ONE Georgia power vehicle on any of the main streets and intersections, and after speaking with a Georgia power representative , I knew they had NO plan of action in place to begin restoring power! ...Their only generic answer was " we are working diligently to restore power even if you don't see our trucks out in the communities "...So please tell me HOW they were working diligently ? Was it from their offices ? Doing what? The point remains that residents of the CSRA should not be subjected to these deplorable conditions...maybe next time Georgia can learn a lesson from Florida; and that is: ALWAYS to be hurricane/disaster ready!!

Are you kidding me? People are literally trapped in homes, neighborhoods, and how do expect these people to access water and charge stations if they can't get out? The emergency service can't even help with Gas leaks so what do that tiny amount of Nat Guard going to do? Do they not understand the huge amount of devastation? Fema assistance means nothing if you can't access water, food, medical supplies etc Leadership dropped the ball at all levels. Can someone please give the first guy some pointers on public speaking.

The first speaker is the Mayor 😊. Dropped the ball is understatement .No lights , no food, no water in stores .Can you believe that Florida has power and water ? They said heavy rain and, winds .They did not say a categorie 4 storm was coming.They didn't give us the opportunity to leave this barren place.That in itself is scary.We have no resources available we can get to . NO real plan from the officials just throw the whole city away.

WATER ??WE DO NOT HAVE ANY WATER OR LIGHTS .This means nothing to me or my family we do not have any WATER OR LIGHTS at all , The toliets will not flush. we can not leave because the lines for GAS are 2 ,3 ,5 miles long . The stores are bare there is nothing left . How can we get water if we can not leave . All our food is rotting, we will probably die of starvation and dehydration. We can not leave to get any water. 5 millon from fema for what ?

You will not die of starvation. If you have no food its called FASTING. You can survive for at least 40 days. However no water for 5 or 7 days will make your muscles cramp. Very painful. I suggest get out and walk for water/assistance. Get with a neighbor. Ride a bike is another option. More than anything PRAY to Jesus

They are not turning off our water? I just got the alert not 14 hours after this conference that water outages would be happening for the next 24-48 hours.
