The way both Hadelich and Weiss focus on the entire sound and their mutual interpretation is astonishing. They are a true musical partnership. Thank you!

Ich habe wirklich sehr viel großartige Musik in meinem Leben hören dürfen, aber das übertrifft Alles. Ich wusste eben wirklich nicht genau ob ich noch auf dieser Erde bin……..🎶🎶🎶🙏

Hadelich, Weiss, Ravel. A veritable United Nations playing this exquisite piece that seems very different from other pieces by Ravel given its American flavour. Brilliantly played.

Kinky lmao I love it I never thought I’d see this in a violin sonata comment section but I think it’s the perfect word here 😅

Wirklich toll!

I wonder, who is the other violinist that can play at this performance's level. It's astonishing for me, realy. It's an absurd rich synchronized perfection. It's a God's gift! I consider myself a lay man regarding violin thecnic, but this is a wonderful piece, to enjoy. Thank you all, very much, indeed!

the first movement was spellbinding, so refreshing and cleansing to listen to… the violin melody sounded like a song! love the humour in the second movement, and the perpetual passion in the third

Hadelich has a prodigious instinct in the way he complements with whomever he's playing (be it with another soloist or an orchestra.) I felt that the pianist tried to stand out too much at points, but Hadelich adjusted so intuitively that even discordant chords sounded musical and harmonious. The dynamics are so balanced.

Was this performed on your Philipp Augustin violin?

I appreciate Hadelich so much, but for my taste this Ravel is here too much “romantic”, too much intense, too much “vibrato”... The neoclassical aura of the Sonata is lost. Also I notice a bad EQ in this recording: piano's low frequencies are enormous! (Sound Engineer is too much “romantic" too!) [EDIT: Second mov. is FANTASTIC, and the pianist makes a miracle with the “fake” glissando at 13:37 ]

Interesting comment. The performance is more Gospel than Blues to my ear. No ironic distance. Hadelich is an astonishing violinist, but he tends to smooth out the style of every work I’ve heard him play. In fairness, he’s not alone in that.
