Does my approach help you in any way? I am interested what singers think about my thought, so feel free to drop a comment😉

This is very high level advice. What actual skills do good scatters have? I'd say (1) ability to produce rhythmic syncopation (upbeats, swung 8th notes, even just snapping on 2 and 4 is a challenge for some), (2) hearing and singing the 3rds, 7ths and roots of the changes -- all instrumentalists can do this, and (3) knowing song forms like AABA, ABAC, and being able to keep track of where the band is. Then, with those basic skills in hand, apply your unique choices and style to this basic jazz tradition. Then expand from there on your own unique path...get more adventurous and further develop your sound and style.

knowing intervals consciously I consider not so important, as long as you can feel the chort . however, knowing the form of a song and beeing able to keep track where the band is, are that basic, that it is not worth mentioning - if those basics are not given, it's hopeless....

Great video! Love the advice about feeling and focusing your energy outward to affect rather than focusing it inward. Great advice for all creative outlets.

Thank you for the video! I am learning how to scat so this is very helpful for me. I think I tended to try to copy someone’s style note by note, but rather I should just use it as inspiration. Thank you and I’ll take a look at your other videos!
