Tyler H no offense but what were the supposed to do? Show pochohontas being raped in a Disney movie? Its not like that was the only misrepresented story. Anastasia was based on a real story but irl Anastasia and her family were all taken from their beds and night and executed via firing squad. Is that really something that should be been in a children's movie? Probably not.

many people might not know this, but the song she dances to is talking about the six ancient districts of her home island, of O'ahu. 'Ewa, the central south; Kona, the southern east; Ko'olaupoko, the mid-east; Ko'olauloa, the north eastern shores; Waialua, the north west; and Wai'anae, the entire western shore. the song is an awaking to these districts to the start of a new dawn, a new day. *Edit* : ok so Iʻve been informed that Auliʻi was originally from the island of Hawaiʻi but moved to Oʻahu. I didnʻt know that so Mahalo for pointing that out.

Kupa'a Kaleo I love hula ❤🌴🌺 could you write the lyrics in English and Hawaiian please?
@kupaakaleo1377 жыл бұрын
+101857152521998200415 sure! So pay attention when she dances so you can connect the words to the motions (in the English part, I'll put explanations of the lyrics) Mele Hoʻala Moku by Keliʻi Reichel Hawaiian: E ala e- E ala e- E ala e, o 'Ewa, o ka i'a hamauleo E ala e, o Kona, i ke kai o Kalehuawehe E ala e- E ala e, o Ko'olaupoko, i ka la'i o Mololani E ala e, o Ko'olauloa, a ka Malualua ki'i wai E ala e- E ala e- E ala e, o Waialua, o Kukaniloko i ke kapu E ala e, o Wai'anae, i ka malu o ka ulu niu E ala e- English: Awaken! Awaken! Awaken, o 'Ewa district, of the "quiet-voice fish" (oysters) (1.) Awaken, o Kona district, of the sea of Kalehuawehe (2.) Awaken! Awaken, o Ko'olaupoko district, in the tranquility of the Mololani breeze Awaken, o Ko'olauloa district , of the "water-fetching" Mālualua breeze (3.) Awaken! Awaken! Awaken, o Waialua district, of the sacred/taboo Kukaniloko (4.) Awaken, o Wai'anae district, in the shade of the coconut grove (5.) Awaken! -1. pearl oysters of Pearl Harbor, once famous for it's abundance of the shellfish; it was kapu/taboo to speak while harvesting them. -2. a surf at Waikiki, said to be so named when the taboo on surfing at Waikīkī was broken by a young chief from Mānoa who removed his lehua lei and gave it to the daughter of Chief Kākuhihewa, who had been the only one permitted to surf there; the taboo was broken when the princess accepted the lei. -3. offshore seabreeze accompanied by showers on the North-East side. -4. royal birthing stones for high chiefs and royalty; highly sacred to Hawaiians. -5. the famous coconut grove at Malaea, nowadays called Poka'i bay.

@ Kupa'a Kaleo...Mahalo nui loa for sharing that information! i had the Blessing of living on O'ahu back in the '80's...danced (and felt) Hula (as best i could as a white girl) and it was an honor to be told by a native lady who made my Haku lei that she felt i had a Hawai'ian heart. My heart and spirit never left and i am working towards moving to Mau'i as it is that Island where i have felt strongly drawn to bring healing in some way. My son is currently on O'ahu on his Honeymoon...he was just over 3 yrs. old when we left but still remembers some things about living there. Ho'onanea! *:D

If there are any rude or inappropriate comments posted here about Auli'i---anything about her looks, her dancing, ANYTHING---the film, or the Polynesian culture and their traditions, they will immediately be removed. I DO NOT WANT, and I DO NOT NEED any negativity on this video from people who like to cause trouble. If you are one of these people, and YOU KNOW who you are, let's be real here (you get some sort of ridiculous enjoyment out of being cruel), please educate yourselves, and direct that energy toward something positive and useful.
