It is amazing how long Aunty Genoa held that note, and then went even higher.

This is my Great Aunty!! I'm from Orange County California and moved to Maui this past Sept (I'm in OC at the moment for Christmas at my parents etc). So overjoyed to connect more with my culture and meet more of those who loved my Aunty's music. I'm looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in the future for me on the islands. Feel free to reach out to me with any comments. Melekelikimaka 2024 everyone. 🎄🙏💚❤🌊🌺🤙🙏

Beautiful, as always! I went to college with Debbie Gima the year she won Miss Aloha Hawaii. No one had ever sung a song the way she did "Kaneohe." I asked her hiw she learned to sing like that. She said "Aunty Genoa taught me."

I had the amazing and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Aunty Genoa at the Kaumakapili Church on Oahu back in the late 1990's with her grand daughter, they were playing ukulele together and singing together. It was nothing short of an almost out-of-body experience!

What a treat! I miss Aunty Genoa so much. Po'Maika'i is also a beautiful singer. Grandma taught her well. So nice to hear Gary and the others, too. Mahalo from Oakland CA

The greatest Hawaiian Singer Ever!!!!! She is the Front face of the mount Rushmore or Mauna Kea of Hawaiian music. Love you Aunty! Thank you for all the music that we can pass on. My 17 year old Daughter sent this to me. Your music lives on even for those that came after you!

@@kealoha17 Aloha Jordan! I grew up in church at Auwaiolimu Ward. (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) Aunty, Eric & all da Ohana was there. Aunty was always so loving to our fam. I didn’t know it back then, but after doing some Family Genealogy, found out that Aunty Genoa’s hubby Ed is my 3rd cousin, so how cool is that?! Yes, we all Ohana, and that makes me so happy! I often hear Aunty Genoa’s signature song in the parking lot of Kamehameha shopping center. It’s the song where she holds out that note. It always makes me so happy, and keeps me smiling. Aunty Genoa, there is no one like her. Singing or not, she genuinely loved, and beamed with that pure love of God. Just thinking about her, has got me all misty eyed. Thanks for reaching out!

I met her Nephew Michael Ritchison, Arline's Son! He loves to talk about his Hawaiian heritage and I love his kindness. His Mom is very pretty. I loved the song and I shared it with my family. !
