Was looking to see if it was going to just as good as the eyeball, this video did just that. I’m a hip hop sound engineer, artist, and producer, and I need something for the home studio so I don’t have to treat the room and be able to take it on the go. Originally thought I might just bite the bullet and get what a lot of the industry is getting with the eyeball. Definitely not gonna spend the money on that, and this was perfect because I also use the nt1-a thank you for this content!!!!

I just had to stop in and say thank you for your comment about recording in an untreated room and opting for a condenser mic anyway - I'm newer to audio recording (books) and all of the narrators I've talked to say I have to get a condenser microphone, but it seems like a hypercardioid dynamic mic would definitely be best for me because of my current recording location situation. Nice to not get a bunch of bs from someone finally. Even though you probably won't read this since it was recorded over 2 years ago haha

Thx, going away from my SM7B dynamic (with neewer reflection filter) to a NT1000 condensor so I think I want to try this out. Ppreciate the through breakdown!

Holy shit. You went from that Condenser microphone from another time, I presume? Then, upgraded to the one you were using at the beginning? Huge step backwards to my ears/speakers. Other than the "pop" I guess it is, from your breath? That can be controlled with practice, yeah? That condenser mic is just....superior. I'm listening on 2 RP Klipsch dual 8-inch towers btw with a Klipsch RP-504 center and SVS SB-2000 Pro sub. With Dirac Live. (Yeah, I know YT is stereo, it sounds just as good on direct, too) Well, thanks for the video, sorry if I came across as scathing, I was just shocked. Liked

Can you use this with the king bee? Or should I get an eyeball?

This one looks identical to Alctron PF8 Pro
@AudioHotline
@AudioHotline 4 жыл бұрын
They probably are VERY similar. I know the biggest difference is that the Alctron doesn’t have the mounting system on the bottom like the Auray. So basically if you don’t have a big shockmount that you can rest the alctron on, you are slightly screwed.

I've tried the eyeball albeit long before I started watching mic reviews and I didn't understand what was happening to my mic. I have something similar now from Troy Studio. It's bigger and doesn't change the mic tone so much. Great video bro! Stay up 💪🏾

Interesting product. Two questions, is this compatible with the King Bee? If so, any chance we could get you to record a comparison with that mic?
@AudioHotline
@AudioHotline 4 жыл бұрын
I am 99% positive the king bee is too big for this mounting system on this... but I’ll try it and get back to you. It may work if you take the mounting system out and just rest the Auray on the king bee shockmount. I’ll let you know.

Does this help at all to block external noise. My room tone is great but loud cars passing by still bleed through.

Question! If i were to buy this product would i still need acoustic foam on my walls? Or would the iso armor be good enough to do the job?
@seanedwards94
@seanedwards94 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the room. But you're probably still going to want to treat your room. That being said, this will get you a good deal of the way there.

It definitely does add a little bit of that proximity sounding effect as well as getting rid of some room noise.

Hey, how do you think this compares to the more "eyeball" style room reflection filters... you know, like the "Kaotica eyeball"
@AudioHotline
@AudioHotline 4 жыл бұрын
I think they are pretty similar. They both allow some room noise to get in, cuts quite a bit out though, and they both tend to change the mic tone slightly. I like this one because it is half price of the Kaotica Eyeball. There are some cheaper Eyeball ripoffs out there, but nothing comes close in build quality compared to the Auray.

@@AudioHotline Thanks for the feedback - love the channel :-) Would love to see a test of the Samson CL5 (struggle to find an example live but what I have seen, it compares fairly well against Shure/Rode equivalents!)

Audio Hotline since I don’t use condensers, I need other options. Although, my mic is extremely quiet. I live in an old farm house and I have a air vent right above it, you never know it.

@AudioHotline
@AudioHotline 2 жыл бұрын
It adds a bit of a bump in the low-mids. Some EQ can definitely fix it easily, if need be. The Auray is a pretty convenient route to be able to get rid of some room noise/reverb, but if you can get sound blankets or acoustic panels, I would recommend that.
