I cleaned my entire home because of you and it was 3 times as bad as this, untouched for 5 years of misery, I know it's not something you or anyone might care much about but I watched your videos a month or so back and since then I cleaned my entire flat to almost pristine condition and enjoyed the journey too. It's really such a huge thing that she managed to keep her sleeping space in a better condition, that it wasn't as dirty as her kitchen or bathroom. When you're so heavily depressed, your bed often becomes your one safe heaven, and your bedroom is the room where you spend most of her time. Thank you for the help you offer to all these people Auri, you're so sweet. It makes me feel better now, when I have depressive episodes where it's hard for me to keep my place clean, to remember that there are people like you out there who wouldn't judge me but would help instead. It's helped me accept the help that my friends offer, and now a close friend of mine regularly comes over to help me clean my place, and I pay him in exchange, because he's tight on money, and I need the help. It's a good exchange, and you've helped me to not feel guilt or shame about it anymore.

Hi ! So you are maybe going to answer this question : she makes an amazing job, but isn't she "only" cleaning the place, without disinfecting it ? I mean, when she cleans all these disgusting things (mouldy sink, coffe pot) or touches everything with her gloves, and then touches other things with the same gloves, doesn't she risk to contaminate other surfaces ? Because for instance the sink is cleaned, but not disinfected, so all the germs are then going to the kitchen... It may be a dumb question but I wanted to ask it ! Still a very impressive job and a dedication to others !

I just found your channel and this is the second video I've watched. Thank you so much for what you do. I had an issue like this with my apartment because of severe depression, isolation, etc. I tried to clean but I had such low energy that I couldn't get enough done at once to keep it up. I tried hiring someone but they weren't on your level. It helped and was better but it was still pretty bad. It finally got done when someone who liked cleaning like you came to stay with me. Between the two of us we got it all done over the course of about two weeks. That also included getting rid of things that were still useful but that I didn't need. I gave those things away. I still have tendencies to clutter but I don't let anything build up the way it was and although I still have severe depression, I'm working on it with therapists and it's SLOWLY getting better right now. Again, thank you for what you do. It means he world to people.

for the first 14 years of my life, i lived with a hoarder, my own mother. she has depression and anxiety, and was extremely neglectful in both physical and emotional needs. me and my three other siblings lived in a mess similar to this, toys mixed with trash and food items that we never wanted to clean up. we lived our whole childhood believing that it was normal, and it wasn’t until i went to my friend’s houses for playdates that i realised that it wasn’t normal. i was terrified and embarrassed that we lived in such a mess, so i never had friends over. my siblings and i are now out of that mess, but continually have issues with hygiene etc. seeing these videos gives me hope, that somebody out there is willing to help those in need, and even though i didn’t get the help i needed, that even the most normal of things, like cleaning, can help somebody.

I have cared for my disabled mother and son for the past ten years, while dealing with an uncurable illness myself and working full time even when I am in so much physical pain and so exhausted after taking care of everyone, that all I want to do at the end of my day is sleep! I have not been able to clean my apartment in years! But right before the year ended last year, I wanted to at least start my new year with a clean bathroom so I dragged myself for four days and cleaned it as much as I could. I really love the smell of bleach it had for a few days after I cleaned it, but that is all that I could clean. I still have the rest of my apartment, but I know that it will take me at least a year to clean it and I live in a Studio apartment! It's just really hard to do with my bodily pain and with the depression that I developed :( I bumped into this channel by pure chance, and maybe my angels put Aurikatariina in my path just to give me hope. The brutal thing is, these people know exactly what state their home is in and have tried a million times to clean it up, but can't manage to do so. In deep depression, not only the house gets neglected, but also other things like eating properly, brushing the hair or taking a shower. It's common for people in deep depression to not shower for a week. And they find it disgusting themselves. And their home rubs it under their nose every day, what a failure they are. (they are not, but they feel like one for not being able to maintain their home) Living with deep depression is a condition that worsens itself by the symptoms it creates. The only proper way out is medical treatment and therapy.

I just stumbled upon this channel by accident and was terrified to look at the comments... But the warmth and kindness you all express for this poor woman has been incredible. I'm in a hoarders home now thanks to my family and I want nothing more than to just burn it all down because of the pride refusing to ask for help. We constantly work and I'm at college 9/12 months of the year so it makes cleaning impossible. I just hope that one day we can experience a transformation like this.

I just wanna ad for everyone going through a hard time right now with keeping their house tidy and clean: yes, it’s “easy” the three steps that Auri mentioned to get started (trash, clean surfaces, organize) in the sense that those are only three large groups of steps.. but as a person with ADHD who easily gets overwhelmed myself, and has a huge issue getting started on unpleasant tasks… Take it a bit at a time. You don’t have to do it all in a day. Set yourself compassionate and realistic goals, and you’ll get there in time. All the love from 🇨🇦

I have ADD and have found a lot of help in doing "sprints" - set a timer for twenty minutes and just...do as much as I can in that time Maybe that's going to be hyperfocusing on scrubbing the sink, but at least I'll have a clean sink! And then everything else can just be left without feeling guilty, because I've done my twenty minutes, and I don't need to spiral into panicking about how it's a huge task and I don't know how to start/what to do next. And maybe I'll feel like doing another sprint after that, or maybe I won't, but either way I've done _something_

What really helped me get started with cleaning things out properly was picking a 'home base', in my case my bed. Once cleared and sheets changed, it was a large clean space for minimal effort that looked like big progress. As a bonus, having a week before it would need 'maintenance' cleaning made me feel less stressed because that is a big amount of time to get working on other things before that area could begin backsliding. Would recommend to anyone who struggles with feeling overwhelmed. Other good choices are a table or a desk, whatever works for you.

I had much shame from similar trauma, but I did find cleaning washed away some of that and in time found what I did for me, by cleaning in MY space, cleaning up MY diet and MY home, made my life more mine again. I believe we can find healing and relearn self care, just do it a bit at a time; collect rubbish a bag at a time, take it out, do a few in sequence and acknowledge how you have showed love and care. Maybe clean a surface at a time - a dining table, a bathroom sink, a bedroom floor... and switch a sweet drink or two for water to help clean the body gently, choose some fruit to snack on a couple of times a day instead of chocolate or chips or cake or biscuits and acknowledge that you have :) You can do this, each step you take interrupts the cycle. From little things, big things grow 💜🌼🦋

I clean and straighten up my apartment so much more often now since I started watching Auri. I used to avoid it and rarely do it since I hated the labor of it. A tip to others like me: It's okay to not do a job completely. I procrastinated cleaning my shower because I hated scrubbing the tile walls, so I never cleaned at all. I tell myself that just cleaning the tub is better than nothing, I give myself permission to tackle the shower walls another day. Funnily enough, once I've cleaned the tub, I'll usually go, "might as well..." and go ahead and scrub the walls too.
