This is hands down for me the best cover that aurora has done, aurora loves Leonard Cohan he along with Bob Dylan were so much a part of the music that filled her life as a child and it's not rocket science to see how much they have inferences in her music, for me I can not think of any other artist to perform this at a concert paying tribute to Leonard Cohan.aurora is without doubt the best artist out there no one comes close a pure artist who treats music as the art form that it's meant to be.for one so young she is simply a Genius.

Yes you are so right it´s the hole performance. You could see that she love this piece, and where she have learn her outstandig storytelling. She don´t do any big drama over it...Only love to a song she loves dearly and do it with her open heart. Thanks gentlemen, you do it again!!

She have done at least three recorded live performances of Cohen . Famous blue raincoat, So long Marianne and the Partisan!!

This is a very melodic song. I think Aurora did it justice, she really conveyed the feeling and meaning of the song.

Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to this Cohen song performed by AURORA! I recommend also listening to her rendition of "The Partisan," which Cohen adapted from the original French Resistance anthem!

Great reaction! I would recommended Aurora-souless creatures live Bergen 2020. The only time she sang the song, really important song in these times, one of my favorites 💙

I second this! She recently did a live stream where she performed this song, so now we have two to enjoy!

@All my demons greeting me as a friend Can you rephrase that, as I am not understanding what you are trying to convey. Soulless Creatures Bergan 2020 is the first live performance of this song, then recently she did a live stream in which she sang the song again. Your reply to my earlier statement is confusing.

I revisited your reaction and insightful analysis of this tremendous Cohen cover by AURORA! I'd love to see her put out an album of Cohen songs! In some ways, AURORA is very much like Cohen, in that she started writing (quite excellent and very layered) poetry and lyrics at a very young age (and has apparently written thousands), and was influenced significantly by Leonard Cohen's poetry and music as a child.

I think what you are saying is that she use her voice to serve the music - and the soul of the song. When she does her own stuff (that she radically rearrange from cathedral versions to rock-concert version to acapella and everything in between) as well as when she covers she is rock steady on representing the heart of what she performs. I am going to paraphrase now, but she once said something like this: "When I compose I am God. I decide and am free to express and create anything I want. When I perform on stage I am something different. I am channelling something else from beyond myself - for the audience". I think it is easy to hear this, especially in her covers. Inserting herself deeply into the song - but never ever trying to overpower the song. In addition - she commands attention. Both Cohen's version and Bowie's own "life on Mars" - they have been the soundtrack to almost my entire life - humming on the radio and whatever. In Aurora's versions, I sit up attentively. It is a feeling she described best herself in the lyrics of her own "It happened quiet" - When she drops down from humming the bridge heavenly, returning to us pointing out" "Don't you speak over my voice". It hits me in the face every time. There is something in that crystal voice that is attention-grabbing - in all the good ways. And it is demonstrated here - covering another Cohen song during a gig in Chicago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2WmmKyMgq-ce80&ab_channel=AndyTaylor (filmed by a mobile phone - when is the last time a Chicago-gig goes this quiet mid-set?) There is also a bootleg version of her performing out there of the Partisan kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZmqkoJ_hZ6qhMk&ab_channel=halftheseedaway As always a joy to listen to you two.

There is something about Aurora that cannot be explained .. everything comes naturally to her. Only artists with a high degree of musicality can perform at such a high level, Aurora is one of these.

No challenge for AURORA as she is a genius. A difficult song to sing for average humans. The song is poetry and AURORA has written songs like this. The word for AURORA is authentic, she immerses in the music. She isn't there to impress anybody, but to love the song. She is a true artist. There may never be a better version of this song now.

I think she did cohan all her credit. She is incredibly good. "my brother, my killer". I think this is not talking about killing, but about psychological cruelty. He killed his soul. Took his wife away from him. It killed him inside. Later he sees the matter more positively. He's grateful that he didn't have to be with a woman like that for a lifetime. Because whoever cheats once does it again and again. So in the end he is even grateful to the brother for standing in the way. And in the end, brotherly love weighs more than a woman like that. My interpretation. Can of course also be wrong. It's not my main language, so I can be wrong about the content. "Come clear" for me as a German means that you can find peace with something that you have done or not done. Make / find one's peace. Finally calm your guilty conscience.

Aurora does not put SO much extra into this song.... I think the reason are that this was tribute consert after his death, every artist did 1 song. My guess is that they would keep it respectful and true to the original.... and she is a guest vocalist also (not her band).... In fact the drummer is from the same little town as me 🙂

Check The Partisan........by Aurora........WWII French Resistance story.....a verry much younger Aurora......thing is, as you guys said, Mr Cohen is defintely a very serious creator.......and his work is intelligent adult stuff......so seeing Aurrora undertaking this serious business being so young with such great respect for the author, and that includes understanding what he's talking about...puts her in a very and sensitive position......which is something I cleary see in her...she's a very special and caring lady, ......yep definitelly unique the sweet Viking Fairy Qyeen.......and who's talkin bout crushes...ha ha ha

This would be a good time to request a track from Nick Drake. His music sort of sits between Cohen and this track. I’d go for the track Fruit Tree. It’s rather prophetic and is to Nick Drake what Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) is to Hendrix. In that it seems to foretell his own demise and lack of success while alive, but greater recognition following death. He died in 1974. Other highly recommended tracks include: Cello Song Hazy Jane l Things Behind the Sun River Man Pink Moon

According to wikipedia Cohen had a brief phase around 1970 of being interested in a variety of world views, which he later described as "from the Communist party to the Republican Party. From Scientology to delusions of me as the High Priest rebuilding the Temple". Famous Blue Raincoat was released in 1971, so I'm pretty certain Going Clear is a Scientology reference.
