This song hits me hard. I was sexually assaulted. And I also remember the quietness while and after what happened. It was kept quiet for months. The first person I told was my mom. She told me to keep quiet about it because I’ll ruin his life if I spoke up. It haunted me and I always cried. Until I couldn’t bare it anymore and I told some close friends and asked for help. I talked to a school counselor on what happened and they just said the year is almost over and I didn’t speak up right after it so there’s nothing they could do. I still have a problem with physical contact but I am going to therapy and it’s a long journey.

Mirai Neko thank you I am getting better! And my mom wanted me to keep quiet because my brother was in the position of the guy ( to another girl) who did that to me. And he was sent to jail and it ruined his life. I guess she just didn’t want his parents to feel the pain she felt. I’m still trying to get over that she did that to me. But she also has now understood how messed up it was of her and she’s apologized.

"In a moment of great tragedy, the challenge always is to quiet the mind and move deep within the soul. You automatically do this when you have no control over it. Have you ever talked with a person who accidentally ran a car off a bridge? Or found himself facing a gun? Or nearly drowned? Often they will tell you that time slowed way down, that they were overcome by a curious calm, that there was no fear at all." This is from a book I like so much. After reading similar bad experiences of other people and your own experience while listening to this song, it reminds me this fragment of the book. Hope you will feel better.

I know right! I have no idea why nobody wants to talk about them when they're simply wonderful. We get a chain of beautiful metaphors describing the darkest things as hints to what's actually happened. The contrast between them and the actual meaning is powerful, but then "love is wild" comes and that just tears you apart from the inside and explains more than any description could. I get a real katharsis from that
@sebastiandesire

Miss Daytona for some reason I can't relate that sentence ("love is wild") to the rest of the song. What does it mean to you?
@missdaytonax
@missdaytonax 5 жыл бұрын
@@sebastiandesire well, everything is pretty unclear in the song, but I think that it was her lover who hurt/killed her and it just explains how unpredictably and insanely love can work or act when combined with strong emotions, maybe jealousy, I dunno really. Maybe there is sexual abuse in the story.. Anyway, Aurora likes showing us the darker, wilder side of humans

Hmm Eyes blue and hollow As it rains against their will Feathers falling out of the pillow As if time is standing still I can't remember much more But I know it happened quiet So quiet Words falling out through the window All that remains is a silent call Is the earth coloured red? As I land like a flower on the meadow Love is wild You fell apart Like a stone can be broken into sand A thousand pieces Spread across a crying land And you can't remember that day But you know it happened quiet So quiet Words falling out through the window All that remains is a silent call Is the earth coloured red? As I land like a flower on the meadow Love is wild Ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh, ooh Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Don't you speak over my voice I will return from the shadows And I'll bleed in your bed Turn it red Like the ground outside your window Love is wild Love is wild Love is wild Love is wild Love is wild

This song also struck me and brought me back to 18 years of psychological abuse by my father. I know it cannot be compared to something such as sexual abuse. The abuse I suffered wasn't quiet, it was what seemed to be an eternal scream to bring me down. Yet nobody noticed. It happened quietly because he knew when to scream so that only I would hear him. Yet the words "Don't you speak over my voice, I will return from the shadows." had me crying the first time, and empowered me by the second time, and I could relate to them the third time because I had been able to rise above. Nearly a year ago in Czech Republic I saw Aurora live for the first time. On it happened quiet the whole crowded room went silent. I rose my fist to the damn lyrics and she saw me crying but I know she saw me strong. And to know I was not rising my fist alone brought me the stength to keep rising further and further above every day. Sadly a lot of people can relate to this song. But we're warriors now, and there's no stopping us. Sorry I got dramatical.

Wow! Aurora has it exactly right in that title "It Happened Quiet". Whenever I hear the sad stories of people who have been abused, assaulted, molested, raped, or exploited in any way possible, one always hears the same thing, that the perpetrators tell them to say nothing to anyone, to keep it quiet. Then, even when they do tell someone, a parent, a teacher, someone supposedly trusted, again they are repeatedly told to keep it quiet. My heart goes out to all those in that position. No matter how hard it is, tell someone. Get help. And never, ever think that it is your fault. The fault lies in those who commit such a terrible act against others.

This song is simply stunning. I remember her doing it when she released the Nidaros Cathedral performance video last Christmas and that was astonishing to the point of being overwhelming. But the treatment they give this version might be even better. Her voice transcends mere beauty here and reaches the realm of the magical. This is not a mortal sound. This is a siren call of hypnotizing majesty, numbing and transforming and sharp as the Scandinavian ice but all the while so very vulnerable. I cannot express my admiration for her talents enough…

This song took me back into the darker recesses of my mind. I'd never heard of Aurora and coincidentally found this song by bouncing around KZbin. Not even minute in and I was transported to a time when I couldn't even admit to myself that I was sexually assaulted... It had been someone I trusted as my friend and what he did not only broke the bond between us but the trust I had in myself. When it was happening, I was frozen and couldn't say anything. After it happened, I was in deep denial for years until my dam broke. I was surrounded by people who cared about me, but they didn't deal well with my emotional break downs. They couldn't understand. And how could they when I was trying so hard to push it down and escape it. Even when I knew I needed help and that I should face it, talking about it was hard and I hated myself. Coming to terms with it and learning to deal with it in a healthy way was a long process. This song reminded me of those feelings. That it will always affect me, that I can never escape my past...but I've grown and learned from it. I'm okay now.

wow ! so sorry you went through this seemingly alone for most of it ... NEVER hate yourself for something another did to you .... That is just rage at your perpetrator turned inside out (i.e., inwards towards yourself - when the rage should be purged out & away from you) .... You must NEVER blame yourself for this ... It is more important than ever that you NOT blame yourself. It happened and you were not sure how to deal with it. You were not prepared to deal with kt. How could you be? Blessings to you for healing all the wounds from your past! XOX

This song resonates with me in such a deep way I get so many chills from her voice and the lyrics hit me deeply I was abused for almost my whole life in all ways imaginable the worst way possible happened in pure silence I was 5 the man that abused me is in prison but the trauma will be there I’m getting better but I know it’ll affect me this song gives me hope and I hope I’ll be fully alright one day

Ok, I have a theory about this song. I think it's the weeping, the lamentation of a ghost from beyond; it is very ethereal, at times melancholic and at times powerful, but it seems like something that is heard "from afar" (this is the vibe I get from the song). I think the girl who sings committed suicide ("Is the earth colored red as I land like a flower on a meadow?") after a particularly violent fight with her partner, with wich she maintained a toxic relationship. At timer she speaks almost with love, as if she was sad for the current situation of his partner, who seems to be devastated after her death ("Are your dreams as dead as they seem?" "And you fell apart, like a stone can be broken in the sand"); at other times she speaks with rage, blaming they, telling them that she will haunt them ("Don't you speak over my voice, I will return from the shadows. And I'll bleed in your bed, turn it red"); this duality is expressed in the sentence "Love is wild". Speaking more abstractly, the Ghost tells this story by making emphasis in the infinity contained in a decisive moment, in wich she decides to commit suicide ("I can't remember much more, but I know it happened quiet"): she doesn't remember much of her life because she died, but she remembers that moment. Maybe she's still living it, eternally, and that's why it happened quiet, because it's not finished yet? Not as a punishment or a sort of hell, but as a kind of trauma; she's floating in nothingness, surrounded by that moment. Are your dreams as dead as they seem?" "And you fell apart like a stone can be broken in the sand"); en otros momentos le habla con rabia, recriminándole lo que pasó, diciéndole que le va a perseguir ("Don't you speak over my voice, I will return from the shadows. And I'll bleed in your bed, turn it red"); esta dualidad queda expresada en la frase "Love is wild".

The buildup for her to say "It happened quiet..." is so beautiful... It's just a couple of notes, with her very calm singing voice, and then a pluck of the strings breaks the silence for her to say "but you know it happened quiet". And immediately after, it's this fantasy tune with her singing

I dont understand why people come to a song they like just to complain about other types of music. Im not much of a fan of rap either but I can respect it and I would MUCH rather praise Aurora on an Aurora song then talk about music I dont like on an Aurora song. And call me selfish but I wouldnt like it if Aurora achieved the mega stardom status of the biggest rap or pop stars frankly. I mean I wish her the greatest of successes but theres a big part of me thats always wanted her to be "our little secret" because of the threat to her creativity if she got too big and was put under more and more pressure to mainstream and water down her sound. Whats beautiful about her art is that its different. Not yet another product for mass consumption. Lets enjoy her as she is.

First, I want to say that I’m horrified and very sorry indeed that you had such a dreadful experience. I also truly hope that you’re somehow coming through, and getting all the support and help you need. I’m not sure that this song is actually specifically about rape (but if it helps you in some way to deal with your memories then it’s exact meaning is unimportant) but it seems to fit in to the sequence “Churchyard” - “I Went Too Far” - Murder Song” - “It Happened Quiet”. All of these are about domestic abuse and/or violence and there is an apparent progression from threat to regret to murder, to the victim finally getting some form of revenge on the perpetrator - even if it’s through nightmares or the judicial system. In Murder Song, she suffers a gun shot to the head, and a pillow might have been held over her face to partially silence the shot (hence the feathers falling).

I am so sorry that this happened to you. But yes, that sounds perfectly plausible. Aurora has said before that her songs may mean something different to everyone, but I think the broad theme is that in the song Aurora sings of one who has been abused in some way, and gets to exact revenge on her abuser.

I just read what this song is about. It's about a relationship she had where when the two were in private, her partner would tell Aurora about how sad they felt about everything and all Aurora wanted to do was protect them. But they did violent things in the name of Aurora. Eventually Aurora cut it off with them because her partners pain was consuming her too. Some of it reminds me of a relationship I have right now. I discovered one of my best friends has PTSD and Depression, and I finally noticed the cutting scars on her arms and legs. It's painful to be around her because all I have to do is look down at her scars and I want to cry. But I also want to heal her more than anything and I enjoy being around her. I don't want to cut it off with her, no matter how much of her pain I have to bear. I'm afraid if I don't stop helping her, she'll kill herself. Her pain connects us. When you have that much sorrow, you just want to figure out why, but it's so deep that you have to think deeply to find answers. You gain wisdom from sorrow. I was, and still am a little, going through a time like that. I don't meet many people I can talk to about deep ideas and be emotional with. She is an amazing artist and philosopher. She is kind and and selfless and loves reptiles. And I believe she is essential to my life.
