I've seen a lot of people who really didn't like this book so you're definitely not in the minority! I haven't read it yet but I'd like to, I love Jay Kristoff but personally I was iffy on Illuminae so I'm not sure how I'll feel about this one lol

Honestly this book is a guilty pleasure for me. For me, it borders on funny and annoying that the characters are attracted to each other 24/7, and I agree that the cast is super stereotypical, but I think Aurora Rising is good escapist fluff. The story itself is fun, the characters are still easy to latch onto (even if you find them annoying, which I mostly didn’t) and honestly I think it does what it wanted to do. It’s dumb fun written from the perspectives of varyingly irresponsible and charming doofuses. Then again, I’m only partway through Part 2, so my thoughts could change drastically by the time I’m done lol

I have heard such mixed reviews for this book. Personally I thought the audio performance was alright but felt very neutral about the whole thing. I gave it 3 stars and would probably give it a C. Everything’s was lackluster but I also didn’t hate anything about it.

Yesss I agree with everything you said! I listened to the first 2 chapters on audiobook and just couldn’t keep going that way so I rented the ebook, but even then I found I really couldn’t stand the characters (as you said, all very stereotypical). I’m not very far in but I don’t think I can keep it up soooo likely going to pick up something else

It was a B+ for me.The script was kind of too much but the story itself and the world building was enough to make me keep going. The last half was a lot better than the first half. I did not like Tyler at all though, he felt like captain America ripoff to me 😅.

You are right. It was so terrible that felt like a Star Trek knockoff.
