"Why did you have to go" is an unreleased song that will never be released. Aurora wrote and sang this for a friend who died in a car accident. She even sang it at the funeral, if I'm not mistaken. You once said the girl must have seen a lot in life. That's true. There was this rampage in Norway 2011. One of her friends was shot dead. Like many many others. A xenophobic mass murderer killed 77 victims by explosions and gunfire. That went around the world. Aurora also has a song for the bereaved of these victims. I don't know the title right now. Maybe someone will help me out? Edit: It was "Little Boy in the Grass" Thx 👇

I think you are right Coyote. I think she has just perfomed this song once and it was in this friends funeral. I think it was too personal for Aurora to release, but I think it was the girls mother that wanted more people to hear it and published it. There was never made a video for this from Auroras side.

It was Aurora school friend that died, just 18...... She preformed in the funural, and "taped" it after because the girls mother asked...

She's actually lost 3 people in her life. As others said, a close friend of hers died in a car accident at age 11. Which eventually gave Aurora a stutter in her speech. She then got into sign language and found a friend in her class. Lost to suicide. Later at age 17 she lost someone she was possibly engaged to before she was well known. He died in the Utoya massacre. (The terror attacks in Norway.) For which she wrote the song. "Little Boy in the Grass" Yeah this girl has been through some really heavy crap for being such a pure soul.

This video is a fan-made video using footage from Aurora documentaries. Aurora only sang this song once - at the funeral of her friend. (I think this was the friend killed in a motor accident). The friend's mother recorded and posted the performance on her private social media, but it somehow got out there. Because of the massive feedback from people who were touched and comforted by it, Aurora decided to let it stay "out there". Here is a bit of backstory from the Aurora Aksnes Wiki page: "AURORA dedicated this song to a friend who died from a car accident in 2014. She sang it at her funeral. She's said the following about the song: "It's important for the song to cry. That it is reminiscent of grief while it can relieve a little. This song is {NAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY}'s song. And it always will be. I only had her in mind when I sang it in, thinking that a small part of her is in it if you listen extra well. (A post the friend's mother made. The link will not be shared here out of respect for the family's privacy.)."

I think the reason we see her as magical is because the people in our lives don't have the same happiness she has, and upon seeing it we have total disbelief. This song to me shows that she really is just one of us, but she just doesn't let life bring her down. And in that way she really is magic🖤

Like all great requiems, it is a love poem to the life of someone deserving it. In a sense, this is the entire topic of Wardruna's Helvegen (that Aurora sang on) - raising the Norse (universal) question of how we want our song to be like after we leave. I wish my song could be as beautiful as this one, meaning I have made some things half right in life. (I really appreciate your reactions and thoughts, just to state that. I do not think Aurora wants us to curl up in permanent reclusive introspectiveness, but I think she wants to create a little space for a reflection or feeling and thought). And we need you to watch HAIK. It is a series on NRK (publically owned Norwegian Broadcasting Company) gifting a beloved artist a full day - first driving around having small experiences and surprise gifts - ending with the artist giving a micro-concert in front of friends, family and some select fans in a to themselves unknown location. NRK lit up Aurora's childhood forest, home of the ruins of Lyse Abbey (established in the 12th century and abandoned in the 16th century following the reformation) with lots of old living room lamps, rigged the PA and her band, carried in a multi-camera live-recording crew and shared it with us all. I think you know the setting, as your Daydreamer reaction was from this concert. There are additional easter eggs for Aurora hiding in the audience as well. (Just be aware - there are snippets from the concert in the documentary part of the day, but the full mini-concert exists as its own video that also has English subtitles, allowing you to follow the fan testimonies and interactions). Where it not for the Nidarosdomen concert, I would say she should tour the world, one forest at a time. Having rewatched Bjørk's awesome concert in the Sydney Opera House recently, it is clear that Aurora also must tour buildings, as what she did in Nidaros is simply at a different level. Preferably ancient buildings, as they level her up from "not being of this world" to becoming inter-dimensional.

It is unreleased song and only a audio from funeral where she sing it. This video is not from Aurora, just was added (only sound). Ps. More emotional was version with almost static picture at last for me (as you concentrate only on a song). And too be honest I cried during this song.

Love and loss is a part of life. You missing out on what really matters, which is connection with other people. I can't imagine not having true friends or family and only having superficial relationships. I would rather pour my heart out and then pour my tears out when the worse happens because I will have memories with people I love that I never would otherwise.

This song always reminds of the song "Don't Give Up The Fight" by the Dutch rock band Racoon, as it has the same sad vibe. Racoon wrote that song as comfort for a family who lost a young child due to cancer. All royalties of this song are donated to the Dutch cancer research foundation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp_EgIKdgtuSjbs

I don't know that she see things differently, I think she just sees things others don't see or can't express. Is that the same thing? Once she puts it into words then we understand it. That would be an uncommon trait among the great writers and composers and artists, etc. Thanks.
