So will the two way tariff be ON TOP of the feed in tariff (e.g. if FIT is normally 5c then during the penalty period of 1.2c/kWh, FIT drops down to 3.8c)? Or does it replace FITs all together?

They need to separate the costs of delivery / powerline maintenance and the time of day value of the electricity itself. Here in Kansas City we now have Time of day value for the electricity which varies significantly throughout the day but the pricing of it still includes the costs of delivery / powerline maintenance. Right now Time of Day value for electricity during the day is 4x more than it is during the night because of all the air conditioners. People that produce solar power should be credited for just the time of day value of the electricity which must be higher during the daytime because of all the air conditioners and is going to be less than the rate other people are paying for their electricity that includes the powerline maint + time of day cost of electricity. If the solar energy is being delivered locally then the powerline maint must be pretty low, but if the local market is so saturated with solar power that all that power needs to be exported to another city obviously the powerline maint should be much higher. So basically, either Time of Day value of Electricity - Powerline Maint costs (local) vs. Time of Day value of Electricity - Powerline Maint Costs (remote). Obviously the latter is going to be less of a credit. Then there is the theoretical situation that basically the time of day value of electricity basically drops to zero if there are too many houses producing more electricity than they use, all the power plants shut off, and powerline maint cost is still a thing. So you end up with a negative number / charge for producing solar power during the daytime. I think the solution there is LFP or Salt batteries at home so you can use that power when the sun isn't shining. Since almost all of Australia gets sun at the same time, their grid is physically smaller and I can see it happening that the time of day value of electricity drops to zero during the daytime and all the power plants have already shut off. That is very impressive if it's true.

Battery Vehicles, not EVs. Battery scares the hell out of petroleum industry. 😮😮😮😮 20million vehicles in Australia 40million vehicles in UK ? Petroleum knows it can not keep your fuel topped up daily and were ever you park 23hrs every day. 😊 Grid electricity knows you can power your home every night. 😊 Selfplug-in V2G Battery Vehicles with massive daily storage and parked 23hrs every day scares Grid Electricity. Grid electricity makes dirt cheap electricity from the central generator into expensive electricity. The national electrical grid is a $TRILLIONS infrastructure investment and needs $BILLIONS of dollars in cash flow. Offgrid in the suburbs makes Grid electricity a dead duck economically.

Talk it up it’s a straight up tax. Get paid peanuts for exports then ripped a new one for imports. Oh it’s just a little bit sure that’s how it starts then oh net zero is going to cost more up goes the tax. Oh get batteries there is a big uptake new age all of the buzz words that will cost you how much to install and how long to get a return on investment. Really snake oil with tax. Get a grip

2cents by 8million homes by average 5kw = 800k average. So a million bucks a year for doing nothing is a rip off. Don’t suger coat it by saying 2c is fuck all.
