Great vid and greetings from Oz!! Found your channel whilst waiting in keen anticipating for my Weber Q 3200 (...coming in three weeks to celebrate my 50th!). Pineapple and beetroot would have to be two of the most polarising ingredients on anyone's burger list...for me...beetroot all the way!! Just cuts through the richness of the meat - yum. The pineapple you can leave in the tin (and let's not even start on whether it belongs on pizza...). All the best!
@ChicagoGriller3 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the Q3200! To be honest I've been eyeing one myself (I think if I had a Q1200 and a Q3200 that would be the perfect combo). I agree, the beetroot does complement the burger a lot better than I expected. Thanks for commenting and watching! Cheers!

Hi from Sydney. I discovered your channel yesterday and watched a few vids. Well done. BTW, the pineapple is usually grilled, and despite the caramelisation, it knocks some of the sweetness down. Beeetroot absolute must. My friend from San Deigo has been to Oz numerous times and loves the burgers here. I'll came back later with some other comments about the Weber Q - I cannot remember my model number. It is the best BBQ that I have owned.

Appreciate the feedback Francois, and thanks for the tip on the S&P on the tomato for next time!
@SwagimirPutin Жыл бұрын
The most fun part with making an Aussie burger is in the fact that the way you stack the ingredients somehow slightly alters the flavour. Don't ask me how, but it does. Personally, I use Barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce or ketchup, aioli in place of mayonnaise and I always make sure the egg yolk is runny to the point where the burger becomes really messy but it just makes it that much better. Salt and pepper on the salad as well unless the patty is really seasoned. From what I have seen, the preferences with this burger change from state to state and they even have their own slightly different version in New Zealand as well. Overall, if you (Talkin' to you 'Muricans) want your burger to only be meat, cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard, you are totally missing out.
@ChicagoGriller Жыл бұрын
It was indeed very fun to assemble this. Looking forward to making this again with some of these suggestions!

The burger looks great, but we generally use just natural sliced beetroot, not pickled. Also, there are large sections of Australians that detest pineapple on burgers. :) Next year you should investigate the "Bunnings sausage sizzle" aka Democracy Sausages on our election days.
@ChicagoGriller3 жыл бұрын
Hey Cameron, really appreciate the Aussie feedback. Interesting, the natural beetroot actually would have been much easier for me to find (I was lucky and just happened to see it in ALDI one day). Pineapple is a bit "controversial" on burgers here too lol. All in all I did enjoy this burger. I've heard about the Democracy Sausages but wasn't sure when the next election was. It will be added to the list!

What is it that you use to apply the thin layer of oil to your griddle plate ?
@ChicagoGriller3 жыл бұрын
It's just a paper towel folded and dabbed with a little bit of olive oil. Some people will use a higher heat resistant oil like avocado oil, but truth be told I don't find it really makes much difference.
