Yes Arpeggi is the plural of arperggio, which means playing individual notes of a chord. In this song there are 3 guitars playing 3 arpeggios and layering on top of each other to create this really thick atmosphere which feels underwater. This feels like one of those tracks where you kinda get the gist of the theme but its up to the person to where they take it and how far and if they spin it in a positive light or not. For me its about depression essentially seducing someone to end their life, specifically because of the middle section where after he says he will "fall off the edge" only to be eaten by weird fishes and worms until in the end he hits the bottom and "escapes". The "chance" he is taking to "leave" hints at it too. But then again it depends on the person really what it means for them. My mind tends to think a bit darker about meanings. I recommend "Let Down" from them too, this song and that are my favorite radiohead songs.

Yeah, I was definitely feeling like the song was heavily up to interpretation. I probably thought on a more positive side of things. But I can see how the negative side works too, in fact, probably even better given some of the lyrics, and the way Thom delivers them. Thanks, I will put it onto my list, and should get back around to Österreich soon! :) More Radiohead songs are also definitely gonna happen!

Well done! Nice analysis and breakdown. It's a killer song. For a big fan of "Creep" who wants to get up on their whole amazing body of work, truly you just started in the exact right place. More than anything, to me, th ebest intro to the band as a whole is this concert. I'd recommend doing a bunch of videos from the "In Rainbows: Live from the Basement." The first time I saw it, it literally changed my entire experience with music for the last 15 years., as it turned me back onto Radiohead, who had become my favorite bad with OK Computer, still my favorite album ever, but this concert and the album its based off, is really Radiohead in their finest form, and their personalities and vibe playing with each other is so present. Thom is a genius. They have a couple up there, Jonny Greenwood the lead guitar is a music Giant - he is one of the highest regarded and most sought after movie music orchestral scores - he's been nominated for an Oscar. So this band is worth taking you initial curiosity and finding out the whole deal, as they are unlike any other artist in the last 30 year (opinions of course.) I'd recommend "Nude" from this concert as a great next song. Keep checking them out - I look forward to your take on those lyrics!

Thank you so much for the kind words and information! I never even realised that Radiohead was as big as it is! I assumed they were still just a rather small indie band, but its amazing to hear that they are known pretty well, even in the cinema scene! I definitely intend on doing more! I have added "Nude" to my list, though at the moment I don't know which song I will be doing next, as I have a couple songs by Radiohead that people want, but I might prioritize "Nude" in that case!

@@TheToaster1155 Thanks for the reply! "Nude" it is then and it is a great change up, slower, soul touching song. One of their most elegant, delicate, beautiful tracks. 5 of their 9 albums have been on the Rolling Stone top 500 albums of all time list - while such lists are to be taken with some grain of salt, it's also not for nothing a pretty epic accomplishment. It more so speaks to the caliber of art these guys have contributed to music history - but screw all of that, the joy from getting into their music and relating to and absorbing it surpasses any critical claims or anything - it's what you feel, always, so no one is ever right or wrong in liking a band or not. It is personal. But for those who gel with RH, it can be a near lifetime of a musical connection. Many of their songs don't just take a few listens to sink in, but sometimes years later they finally HIT. It's been that way for me at least (it is also why a lot of people check them out and keep rolling, understandably, if they listen to a couple of those harder to grab onto songs, form an opinion - I totally get why they move on and even ridicule people who love the band as it just makes no sense to them. That doesn't make them bad or fans right - that isn't even the right context to consider it in. But again, this concert is a great way to get that feel and and connection, and the rest is all a journey from there. Plus all but a couple albums have essentially 2nd albums of B-Sides, and RH's B-Sides are so good, it is like an entire box of treasure not to even think about until you've gotten acquainted to the main albums. But this is why people who become fans become REALLY fixated on them. I count myself in that though I always seek new music to grow my enjoyment. After "Nude" to here them rock out more, listen to "Bodysnatchers" in this same session. Peace and good times!

My interpretation is tge song's words start literally, a typical lovecsong...but it is a metaphor for for mental breakdown or low patent bybtgecworms meaning how your inner voice can annihilate and break you. Then "everybody leaves if they get the chance", is the desire to escape. "Hit the bottom and escae", is the conclusion, he leaves his illness behind. Quite a positive conclusion given their prior work...joyous. I love everything about this song, meaning, floating layered guitars, vocals, bass. My favorite. You did an incredible job deciphering it in your take. Great stuff!

Hey man, amazing reaction, Im so glad you're discovering Radiohead. If you could do my favorite song by them which is called 'Bloom' that would be awesome! The song also has an ocean theme in terms of lyrics but the message is different. I suggest you to do the Live from the Basement version aswell, which is way superior, thanks, Max.

This song, I believe, is a reference to the little mermaid fairytale. The most famous version is of course Disney's color masterpiece (this flows into the idea of color and perception which is a theme of the album as a whole). However the original story of the little mermaid is less well known. In the original work The mermaid who is love has no magic to become human and the two lovers remain in seperate world's which leads the mermaid to commit suicide (yeah, disney left that part out).
