Ouch. Driver of the red Mitsubishi ASX has some explaining to do.

I suspect they wouldn't have gotten away unscathed, given they took the brunt of the impact to the driver's door.

Hey this was my accident and believe it or not they were perfectly fine. It was an older couple. I went to check on them immediately after the clip ends and honestly I was expecting the worst given the impact area. I was the only injury as far as I was informed.

@@Manuel565 Ah righto. That's good that the occupants of the other vehicle were ok. As long as you're ok as well that's the main thing. Hope your arm is healing up ok.

Was it the arm hitting the horn and airbag deploying on impact?

Steering wheel impacted his arm? Or something else? I wonder?

Takata airbag? 🤔
@Manuel56520 күн бұрын
The air bag deployment snapped my arm. I was braced against the horn when I braked sharply. Always drive with both hands on the wheel. I genuinely believe I would have walked away completely fine if I had both hands on the wheel. This is my submission by the way.

@@Manuel565 Thankyou, heal well. Modern instructors say never keep your hands in the 10 O'clock and 2 O'clock position anymore, and use a 9 and 3 O'clock to avoid the air bag I guess you can attest to that.

His arm is broken because he was on the horn. 😅

I hear the driver say F him, Has time to hit the horn but won't try and at least swerve to the right. Excellent driving 😂

good luck swerving in the rain unless you want the crash scene to be worse

This was my accident so I'll clear something up because there seems to be some confusion around me "being on the horn" and not braking. I 100% was breaking but it was wet and the car failed to stop in time. I was on the horn because I was thrown forward with the force of braking. I braced myself with my left arm on the wheel. I didn't have both hands on the wheel while driving which is entirely my fault. The air bag deployment snapped both bones in my left arm and I spent 4 days in hospital. The ute in the left was illegally driving with their hazards on very slowly which probably caused a large part of this situation, the red car tried to beat them but I was evidently in their blind spot/obscured as I came past the ute. I also swore (I said "fucking" btw, I think I was going to say "fucking idiot") because I noticed the red car squeeze behind another car that was continuing straight on (in front of and in the same direction as the ute, it was a small blue ford focus that you can't even see in this clip because the red car completely obscures it) to cut across the road I was on. I acknowledge my driving wasn't perfect, I could have been breaking sooner but out of everyone in this clip my driving was the best. I also couldn't steer right because there were large concrete medians that are about 20-25 cms tall on either side of the road. My car ended up getting beached over one after the collision. To give you an idea how tall they are my wheels were completely off the road. Driver in the red car was cited for failure to yield and I have plates and screws in my arm for my trouble. The ute drove off into the sunset to drive with its hazards on again and cause more chaos, unscathed.

Just out of curiosity, how would that love bite break an arm? Was he picking his nose or something?
@IDKOKIDK20 күн бұрын
Maybe door airbag hitting right arm especially if hand is high up on wheel. Only thing I could think of.
@Manuel56520 күн бұрын
@@IDKOKIDK this is my submission and you're right and wrong. It was the airbag but it was my left arm and the steering wheel airbag. When I braked sharply I used my left arm to brace against the steering wheel (hence the horn). I'd been driving with one hand on the wheel, which isn't best practice, and apart from the arm I was completely fine. I've learnt my lesson regarding driving with both hands. The screws and plates will be a good reminder 😂

Steering wheel airbag. That's why you shouldn't hit the horn in a situation like that.

Plenty of time to react if you had time to get on the horn.. typical DC driver.. yes the other guy was at fault..

Yep, sure the horn would have made a bigger difference than brakes would that he was already using.

@@Manuel565 even if you chose to use the horn (which you SHOULD have used the horn in this instance), there's no reference to suggest you didn't brake
