19:11 Also important point: Jav throwers have such a low attack rate compared to a network of castles longbow mass that they actually lose to close to even numbers. They for sure lose at equal resource expenditure i.e. longbows cost 90 resources and javs cost 120 so you'll get more longbows for the same number of resources ... Javs need to get a higher attack speed and lower base damage while keeping their bonus damage the same thus keeping their overall base dps but higher bonus dps against ranged ... I think I did the math right lol

I get this feeling that javelin throwers might counter most ranged units EXCEPT the Longbowman and especially when the Imperial Age hits. Yes they might beat a longbowman on a 1-1 fight, but don't forget that English can produce them much faster and at a fairly lower price than Javelins. With the network of citadels being researched in castle and arrow volley being a thing in Imperial, JTs won't stand much of a chance against their supposed prey.

I think the key to beating english as Mali... and let me preface this by saying that 9/10 times you will lose because Mali is prob bottom 3 right now and english is probably by far the best civ ... But you gotta go sofa-donzo-archer and get poisoned arrow. Once you get poisoned arrow you can beat armored units with archers just like you can with javs and your sofa will absorb most blows. More importantly you will force the english player to go spear which they most certainly don't want to do against Mali

Longbows can easily be countered by Mangonels and basic micro of your horse units. If you are losing against them while using a counter it’s your fault.

I like all the aoe games but 4 just feels the most exciting to me at the moment. I am hoping that mythology remastered will be fun but it kind of lacks micro compared to AoE2-3 and even 4. 3 is actually my least favorite except for 1
