Couldnt ask for a better youtuber for this game. Your a high PR player who gives overly in depth info to let newer / lesser experienced players learn, but also teach solid all around build orders to higher lvl players. I was pr30 last AOE, and currently sitting at 1520 elo on DE, and still love all ur vids.

I'm not at your level, but China is one of my main civs and I think there are a few things to note: - At the start, 3 vils can go to hunt immediately, the other 3 to crates and then wood. Vil 7 goes to wood, all others food. This gets you the village in time and no idle TC. - Villages cost 190w, not 200. - The summer palace is big and has a ton of HP, it should be in front of the TC. - The first village should be next to the mine as you placed it, but on the TC side. Against aggressive civs it should even be behind the TC. Yours isn't even fully in TC range and would get sieged down for free by any semi FF or colonial attack. - Summer palace should almost always be on Old Han army. The pikes are important against cav while 2 steppe riders don't usually do much. - You can use the stun to trigger guardians. If you cancel it during the animation it won't go off but the guardians still chase you. Kite them to the edge of the radius, then stun one. - The age 3 wonder should be behind the TC and almost touching it. Most opponents will harass you before it's done and having it this far away means unnecessary walking time and possibly dead vils. If your village is behind the TC then the wonder should be next to both for the extra quick garrison.

Good vid and good points. Gonna add one more thing: - A 1v1 China deck doesn't have room for 1k wood or the age 3 settler card. They're too niche and don't synergise with the civ's playstyle. 13 cho ku nu is bad as well since they're colonial units. More essential cards are: Repelling Volley, Double Faced Armour and 9 Manchus. 7 Hand Mortars and 1 Fuchuan are also situationally good cards - consider cutting 9 Iron Troops or Double Faced Armour for these. 9 Manchus should be in every single China deck, no exceptions.

I’ve played a good number of team games as China in pre-DE, and yeah I found out they are severely lacking in quality anti-cav the hard way. I’d get pressured by the French and have to explain to my team why I was simply unable to stop those unpleasant heavy cav spams.

I love this build. I skip the coin shipment though by putting zero settlers on the porcelain tower and mining instead. Then I have an extra shipment in age iii (or ship 300 export if i need a batch of musk). Good micro tips!

@@AussieDrongo both work. Fun bit from me (an anecdote): I bought AoE3DE for a friend of mine. We tested a bit some civs, since he was new to this game. Eventually, he settled for the Chinese, and I think he found his favorite faction and beaten me multiple times. I'll try to direct him to your videos, because things like moving your hunt closer and all the other micro I didn't know about. And neither did he. He played Starcraft 2 more.

Aight I'm gonna drop the hammer on this one. I've kept it a bit to myself up until this point but people need to know. @aussie I highly suggest doing the fast fortress with China and doing something a bit unconventional. Tech 2 get the resource wonder, then upon reaching tech 3 get the heal wonder, ship your iron troops card and start spamming the shit out of iron troops. Get the bonus 7% HP consulate and attack as soon as possible with at least 10 iron troops. I'm currently at least 40-0 W/L (10 minute treaty only, I have a fairly high win rate in rush games as well in 3v3 and a defensive friend). Let me explain, this strategy works because the Iron troop is hands down the strongest infantry unit in the game, it is not countered by anything outside of late game cannon. The two counters people think of is Hussar/cannon combo. If they manage to pull this off, you will still win an engagement easily, taking only light losses. I have also had enemies attempt to counter with spy/cav/cannon, and even pure spies. Unfortunately spies do not counter iron troops the way they should, and you end up losing roughly 3 spies for every iron troop you can kill when two equal sized armies collide. Iron troops can typically kill 20-30 infantry before any losses occur. This is because their high base health + absurd ranged resistance of 60% causes them to be able to survive multiple focused attacks of any enemy force. Keep in mind Skirmishers DO NOT deal any kind of damage at all to iron troops, they are essentially immune to ranged attacks from all infantry. Melee troops do not counter iron troops either. Try armies of rodelero, coyotes, mix them in with cav, skirms, add a few cannon, ect. None of it matters. In other words try the iron troop spam. Swap your units out as they get low and keep that army alive with the max heal button. Highest k/d ratio I've gotten against some skirm spammer noobs was around 70 kills to every 1 iron troop death. Maybe they will patch this later, it's a very obscure unit that I rarely see in play, just use it and watch your win rate soar.

Can we have a discussion about which banner armies to produce with the Summer palace? I did some math today, but maybe some of your have done additional work on it and also translated ressources into villager seconds? So here is what I found: Old Han Army (3 Chukonu, 3 Pike): 151s to produce, 255Food, 180Wood, equals 101Food/min and 71.5Wood/min Forbidden Army (2 Meteor, 2 Iron flail 294s to produce, 480Food 350Gold, equals 97 Food/min 71Gold/ min. And keep in mind both cav units come with disciplined upgrade researched. So a direct comparison shows the value is quite similar, however good gathers slower. Opportunity cost comes into play here. Would you rather have a cav army every 5 min or old han ever 2 and a half minutes? I would argue Cav is more valuable. Especially since you want meteor hammer as anti-artillery. Old Han can be considered at Age IV once they are 50% stronger, but cost more. Do they also train slower at that point? I have not tested yet. Another thing to consider is Russian Allies and 825 export (with diplomatic intrigue) or 900 export without it after you produced your first batch of Musketeers. With this much export you can get yourself a factory and start producing heavy cannons. Flying Crows are not great and they take forever to produce, but heavy cannons are quite fast to produce. They also benefit from your Age IV card for 8% bonus Hitpoints and damage. I would greatly appreciate if some China expert could discuss some of these points with me. Looking forward to it! Also are Flamethrowers ever worth it? They seem way too expensive and do nothing until they get in range.

Summer palace it's like a extra shipment of units, all banners worth like 3resources/s. Early game you need mass so you go for territorial or old han armies. If you have a FB far from your summer palace is better to use forbiden army just for the time of travel and switch to infantry for defense. The banners that don't have sense are Ming and imperial armies.

Flamethrower are situational. They melt infantry like cheese, so you need them against all infantry civs like Aztecs, Iroquois, Russians and even other Chinese. In other case you go for hand mortars to harass and demolish. Against heavy cav civs avoid art for fights and use them carefully for demolition.

An old han attack in age 2 is a good idea however if they spam 10 Cav and with good micro can wipe out old han/cause vil idle time for them to go age 3 and send a artillrry shipment to wipe out old han No cav to counter artillery except steppe raider(weak)/monks

Always use them. If you micro well you can tear down a base without engage in combat, plus get rid of dangerous enemy artillery. A plus for hand mortars is harass and slow enemies at long distance, so you have leading hand for attack and slows the enemy's flight.

Aw man, seeing you use the Porcelain Tower too early breaks my heart. I'm sure you know, but if you wait to use it to advance to the final age, it gets like near European factory levels of resource production. But then again, I always play to the final age, I like my matches to be long and with massive armies, not little raids or fast fortresses.

There is an oppurtunity cost to it though. Every minute you wait to build it is another minute it is not gathering resources. It also scales downward for the 5th age. Age 2 is 2.5 wood. Age 3 is 4 wood. Age 4 is 5.5 wood. Age 5 is 6 wood. The latest it should be made is 4th age.

Also depends on if you’re doing treaty or not, if you’re doing treaty then sure wait to use it. If you’re not doing treaty, like Zachary said, the opportunity cost to use it earlier outweighs the advantage of extra resource production later on. Can’t win if you’re overrun before you ever make use of that extra production🤷‍♂️

I can just forgo foresting altogether but then again, I play treaty, so my point is to maximize resource longevity while making use of the Summer Palace to give free units. I wish the Chinese had like, one more unit spawning speed upgrade but that's just me, a China main, wanting to be even more OP.
