Mate great video and thanks for letting us tag along! im a state forest hunter and you get to learn how to read the bush and where your most likely to find deer. It’s a game of chance but it’s a great way to feed the family and to catch up with like minded mates 👊 thanks again for the tag a long and appreciate the effort that it takes to put this together👏👏👏

Sit and wait is a good tactic for us older hunters. Don't forget the fire ban in all state forest plantations from the 1st Oct - 31st March each year.

This is a really good video of State Forest Hunting. Two spot checks with the authorities is a lot! Thanks for sharing the trip 👌🦌🌲 … it’s definitely hard work compared to private property hunting but success is particularly special !🥇

Haha yeah man. Down about 28kg. The weight loss has stalled the last few weeks but slowly and steady mate. It's much easier to film and walk around that's for sure. It's also much easier to tie my shoe laces now, lol. 😆

Love the vid mate, I could watch it all day. As you likely know this forest gets hammered by Spotlighters on weekends, I noticed the farmer leaves his porch light on all night. Could definitely be them trying to deter hunters, but id suspect its an attempt to either let you (a potential spotlighter) know not to shoot in their direction, or to send a message that you're being watched. As per usual, a couple clowns ruin it for the vast majority of respectful, law abiding hunters. Not looking forward to the pines growing back to that shithouse head height length, its mint at the moment. Enjoy it while we can!!!

I saw this guy last time I was in the forest. Well I'm pretty sure it's him. Last time we saw him in the forest along the edge. We came past and he was putting a big tree log across the road on purpose. We stopped to have a chat with him and say hello and he was extremely aggressive. We remained very polite and he calmed down a little bit but not by a huge amount. This time they were out on the spotlights every single night. No porch light is that strong. He was definitely trying to deter me and light me up with a spotlight. I told the cop about it and apparently this guy is known to them. Apparently they were going to have a chat with him. I completely understand that they are protecting their land but not every public land hunter is an illegal spot lighter. Anyway, no real dramas considering. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍

Hey mate Enjoyed the video. I noticed you don’t bother gutting the animal. Good idea cos I hunt solo and always wondered if I could move the animal let alone lift onto Ute. Do you have any probs with other hunters on state forest the weekends you go?
@AHPOutdoors8 ай бұрын
I normally gut it, but I already got a deer earlier in the trip. so this one I just bought it back and took the back legs, backstraps, & tenderloins. No issue with other hunters. I only saw 1 hunter on my last trip.

Had my cat r years ago never used it as we got onto a few properties. As you said public land comes with is bs but how’s that farmer flashing the lights he’s the guy that’s bought land adjacent to sf and the cops turning up twice is a bit much hey
