Absolutely love episodes like this. As an Asian Australian I'm always amused seeing people from other cultures try Asian foods and be in awe/disbelief. With that said, I'm glad to be on the other end, learning more about Māori culture! Would love to try sea urchin and karengo!

I had never seen Maori food before until I saw that. I believe important to educate people to see and eat food cultures to get a fantastic experience from people's culture.

I used to be a regular at Cathys Kai. Yes they have it all and it's usually solid. I used to spend 100s of dollars in one hit there haha. The only one time I had a silent complaint about their stuff, they fixed it straight away without even remotely fussing about it. I straight up looked at it and went "wtf". They just looked at me and recognized something was wrong. I didn't even say a word to them and they asked me to bring it to them and they fixed it up.

I remember when i was 8 my Pakeha as family went to Gizzy and stayed at a Marae/Church and we had a massive lunch with everyone there, and this old Kuia handed me what I thought was a tub of margarine for my sammy, and i opened it and it was this strange black looking fishy smelling stuff and I thought what the hell is this in my head. Had never seen it before, everyone had a big laugh watching me discover creamed paua for the first time. Awesome memory of mine.
