Austin Atlantic Dinky Toys No. 106. Renovation and improvement of the 1952 die-cast model.

In 1952, the Dinky company produced a very interesting Austin Atlantic convertible model. The model was a classic car from the early 1950s. Dinky's Atlantic had a too massive windshield frame. I cut out a lot of metal to make the window frame more delicate. I also made improvements by gluing the missing glass and changed the front lights to crystal ones. In my version, Austin gained suspension. I also made a copy of the box. The model I renovated has a different color scheme than the original cars. Great restoration. The model looks so much more realistic after you unblocked the quarterlight windows. When they were filled in they looked so wrong. I hope you have enough tyres and headlamps in those plastic bags! 😉

I never cared much for this model, primarily because of that incredibly clumsy windshield frame - glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way, and your modifications really make it look so much better. I don't think the problem was, that Dinky were unable to make a slimmer windshield frame, but that these cars were toys, so meant for rough play and a thinner frame simply wouldn't last very long.

Fantastic work Paul!. I've just finished mine - I too modified the window frame exactly like this, fully detailed the dashboard as well as fitting the 3 jewelled headlights. You've gone a step further than me with the suspension and windscreen though! Brilliant result Paul.

Hello, I print the boxes in a digital printing house on a professional Konica Minolta printer. I print them on 230 gsm cardboard and it is a glossy Alaska cardboard. A video on how to print boxes can be found on my channel. Best regards.
