For the record Elvis' version of hound dog had nothing to do with big moma Thornton's original. He heard a group sing it on stage in Vegas called Freddie Bell and the Bell boys and asked them if they minded if he recorded it, which is why Elvis' version of hound dog sounds nothing like big moma Thornton's original, it even has different lyrics! Listen to Freddie and the bellboys version on utube and see the similarities between their's and Elvis'. There you go FACT of the day. BTW many artists sang hound dog before Elvis did but that doesn't suit this narrative of Elvis owes everything to black music also the movie had to pander to this narrative to get any chance at award season even if it means giving out false info.

Janelle Monáe has been part of my journey for a lot of years. It was really great to hear some of the depth of her experiences and processes. I didn't know of Austin Butler until the Elvis movie. One of the comments Ms. Monáe made about the artists and souls that influenced Elvis the person was definitely evident in that movie. Also, the movie didn't focus so much on the soap opera life portrayed in media as I was growing up but, rather, the choices Elvis had to make. I didn't think I'd ever dislike a Tom Hanks character. Watching this film, I did. That was heartbreaking. So was Elvis's life.

Wow, they have great energy together. Both active listeners and interested in each other's work and their inner life. They are so engaged with each other that their feet are actually connected at one point in the interview without them noticing.

In addition to them being so thoughtful and sweet and serious and soothing, they're both so gorgeous I almost can't look directly at them.😎

One of The BEST interviews this year in 2022! Austin and Janelle, please, please do another interview. Giving flowers to each other in person and to those who are no longer here -- PRICELESS! My favorite people!😊❤

OMG! I second everything everyone is saying. This is so EPIC! I've enjoyed some other Actors on Actors but this one is too phenomenal for words!!! Something sooooo charismatic and charming about them both, and both so genuine with their soothing voices!! They admire and respect each other. THEY ARE BOTH SO PRESENT! It felt like they were best friends or on a date at the same time. LOL!! Need an acting or music project with these two STAT!!!
