This is a fairly detailed look inside the front hubs, steering swivels and differentials on the Austin Gipsy (with flexitor suspension)
It should be helpful for anyone who is embarking on a hub/bearing repack or just interested in how they are assembled.

Thanks, very useful info, nothing beats a how to video, at some point i will have to dismantle these on mine, fingers crossed they will be ok, though doubtful after all this time.

Considerable skills here. I wish mechanics would use the care and attention you demonstrate! I have to wonder where do you source spare parts for near 60 year old Gipsys? Is it from the UK? Finally I note in the background what I recognise as a 60s Steyr Puch Haflinger. This makes an interesting deviation from your Gipsy adherence. The Haflinger has some interesting features including manual diff-locks front and rear. A video on this vehicle would be so cool. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Parts can be hard to find, most bearings match up by number, and seals I match up by size but even then they can be hard to get. There are a lot of parts that are the same as other vehicles too. That said, I have made a lot of parts (mainly body panels) The Haflinger belongs to a friend, I've been working on it as well. Got it running and driving last winter, it's an amazing vehicle, so well designed and built. Between the locking diffs and suspension it would go anywhere.

I have a terminal fork, but have only ever used it once! If you whack the arm on the outside where the terminal is fitted, 9 times out of 10 the terminal will just pop out - no damage to seal. Just my two cents...

Yes that's a way too, but easy to distort the shape of the tapered hole in the arm. Sort of a last resort.
What is Flexitor suspension? And how does it work on the Austin Gipsy?
