Hi Matthew Just to report I am really enjoying ‘your’ car! It’s domiciled on Phillip Island and has regular short runs through the countryside on fine days and at the monthly island classic meet. I took it into the Healey Factory for a service and they were very impressed with the build. Regards Jeff

Hi Jeff I'm glad you are enjoying 'my' car.😊 And I hope she hasn't given you any grief. Interesting about the Healey Factory. I don't know if you are aware, but I bought it through them before restoration. It came from New Mexico. Anyway, great to hear from you. I do miss her a bit. Keep in touch. Matthew

Hi Mathew, don't know whether you are still looking at the comments after all this time, but I would just like to thank you for a super series of videos which I have only just latched onto. Well done, great restoration job. Regards from the UK, where, amazingly, it was 41 degrees 2 days ago but is now only 13!

Hi Bob Thanks so much for the comment. I'm glad you liked them. 41 or more is quite common here in South Aus. We live in the hills and fires are always a risk. Still, we are all pretty well educated in the dangers of hot summers. We can get over 40 for a week some times. Cheers

Matthew a great series of videos, I’ve just watched all of them and it has been very instructive for me as I have just purchased a restored 100/6 so it was like a video workshop manual, I hope the car and you are both still going strong. Kind regards, Richard.

Hi MatthewGreat to see you on You Tube again. What a challenge I know after all the hard work and meticulous way you proceeded with the restoration to have core plugs leak would make you want to park her up and close the garage door behind you for a few hours. It's great to here that the repair is holding after the replacement of the new plugs once again. I know that putting leak stop or similar product into a newly rebuilt motor is not what you want to do but it could have possibly sealed the leaking plugs in hindsight.Great to see also that you have not been resting as it looks like your property has taken a fair bit of effort this past few months.Regards Ron

Hi Ron Yes, lots of work around the home and lots more to come. I think the plugs are sorted now. Now for the hood/soft top. Video on the way. Cheers

Pleasant surprise to see you back on KZbin with the Healey. Sorry it wasn't a simple closing review of how wonderful the project turned out, but these are minor problems, one hopes. After watching your series last year, I gave up on my dream of once again driving a big Healey, and settled on a 2008 Mazda Miata. Completely different, yet somehow similar.
@aussiemg1007 жыл бұрын
Well, the project did turn out well. I've sorted the issues and she runs very well now. Hope I didn't put you off Healeys, but the Miata is a good choice. Wouldn't mind one myself.

Oh no, I still would love a clean Healey, but they seem to be worth more than I can justify, much more. Probably one of the few project cars that would pay for itself after you finished and had to sell it for whatever reason.

Hello Matthew, I hope everything goes well in the meanwhile with the Healey. I've watched your video's with great interest, and now watch them again after I got some experience with Healey restoration myself. Anyhow, thanks a lot for the great video documentation and tips you've provided on this channel, hope you can enjoy the Healey now ! Kind regards, Koen

Hi Mathew, Nice to hear from you again. Sorry about the problems. I hope they dont deter your enthusiasm for the big healey. My last one was bought with no known history and i drove it all over Europe for about 30k plus miles without doing much to the engine and it was absolutely bulletproof. When i took my current healey for its first long drive i was losing coolant with white exhaust smoke. Dont shudder but i tipped in a can of the american product developed for diesel engines called Ktec. and i watched the white smoke disappear!!. Just a suggestion if the core plug at the back leaks. I could not face taking the cylinder head off but may have to eventually. I think this car may have been off the road for a very long time. Best Regards, David Roberts.

Hi David Yes, nice to put another up. All problems sorted now, I hope! Those products work well sometimes. I remember using one on my MGB with success. Don't think I need it here though. I've put 1000 miles on her and she is running brilliantly: lots of torque, good fuel consumption, not much oil leaking. Now to sort the soft top. M

Mathew it was such a pleasure to see you again. Glad you are getting settled in your new digs. Your videos are always enjoyable, but I feel a bit guilty enjoying something that means you are having to work on the car. But that's all part of the journey of working on grand old cars.

Hi Steve Thanks. Yes it's been a while but I'm getting settled. Lots to do here though.

Well Mat... After watching all the vid, I was totally crushed to see this vid. Freezes plugs are not usually a problem, but in this case it's a bummer. Please tell us you have not given up. I have a 65 BJ8 now, but back in late 60s I had a 59 100-6. Your vid was truly inspiring, l spent a day looking at all of them. Brings back memories to watch you bring her back. Hopefully in the near future you will bring good news.

Great to see you again Matthew. Shame about the core plugs and the solenoide, but as you same, minor issues in the grand scheme of things. You could have picked easier things to get to though 😎

Thanks Tush Not huge problems, but annoying. Hope all is well in the world of Triumph.

Hi Mathew, We have spoken before if you remember i restored my BJ8. For my sins i have just purchased a BT7 triple carb centre change gearbox model with a nice works hardtop from Los Angeles. Is it best to repair the doglegs etc before removing the wings from the car?. I intend to do most of this work myself but have yet to prove i can!. Hope you are still enjoying the 100-6. Best Regards, David Roberts.

majorscope hi David. Of course I remember you. Glad to hear you are working on the car. I fitted the guard to the car, tack welded the dog leg, took it off and welded it properly. You've got to make sure it will fit when finished. Now a confession. I enjoyed driving the Healey for a year or so but had an offer from a local guy to buy it. After much soul searching I decided to let it go. Sort of regret it at times but it's gon to a good home amd I really needed the money for home renovations. There's always more cars and I still have the MGA. Cheers Matthew

I've been trying to decide if I want to rebuild a '57 100/6. I found it for what I think was a good price, but it needs a lot of work. I definitely don't have your skills, but have restored an old Model A. So, I think I could do it. I would just need to carve out a couple years of effort. What do you think? Worth it? Would you mind looking at the listing for the car and telling me what you think?
