I was homeless with a child for 4 years not too long ago and not one person in my family cared to even ask if we were even okay or alive. Even though I'm finally in an apt, which alone took years to acquire, i still feel unstable and that I can fall into homelessness again. Declining health and unable to work and the added trauma from not having a safe place to stay does a number on the body and the human spirit. You get treated so badly when you're homeless and people make the worst assumptions about you and how you got that way. I naively thought there would be so much help available, and it simply isn't true. The lack of resources combined with the staggering amount of people who need help, is a huge gap that needs to be addressed

I am battling cancer and have been for 20 years and 10 surgeries, lots of chemo. On 2 occasions during this time, I have been told that it isn’t good and not much else we can do. During all this and let me tell you it wasn’t easy, however I always had a roof over my head and no other real concerns. I cannot imagine being in his shoes. Go to the police station they can run a check on you kind of like a criminal check there's some social services that can help you get an ID to cut through some of that red tape they do that here in San Antonio Texas it's a good chance they do it in Austin too the ID gets sent to that social service I believe possibly even the station itself I help somebody get their ID through there

Even firefighters go homeless. It took me two and a half years to get on disability after I was hurt. I was homeless for over a year on the streets after I lost my property in northern Minnesota. Minnesota gets cold during the winter. I thought I was going to freeze to death a few times. Now I'm on disability and get $842 a month to live on. It's not much. Not enough for an apartment so I got myself a cheap RV I live out of and found a cheap RV park on the Washington coast that only cost $350 a month for space rent. My electric averages around $75-$100 a month. It's workable but doesn't leave any money for any vehicles or insurance or gas money. I did get myself an electric bike with the stimulus money. So that helps out. But it sucks giving all just to be told I'm only worth $842 a month. They should warn young first responders that doesn't have a lifetime of work under their belt. if they get hurt they are screwed.

In my country, you just need to report to the police, and you can get your ID back. And once you have lost your ID, you are supposed to report to the police station to report your ID missing in case other people abuse your ID.

The shocking thing was his own brother is local and would not help him when he is street homeless. For me that is a new unimaginable unreal level of cruelty. My brother from another mother has a bad criminal record, is mentally ill and he is a big scary dude to most people. He can't get a job because being schizophrenic he can't work. He gets SSDI Disability which is NOT enough to live on. If I did not help him he'd be and had been homeless left to himself. I say this because I can't imagine leaving my brother out on the streets to be homeless. I mean if these guy had a dope problem I know well why you can't trust a dope addict in or anywhere near your home. BUT this guy does not seem to be a dope addict so why won't his brother help him. I told my brother only after he gets off ALL drugs even pot he could come live with me. Once he quit all drugs he moved in with me. I understand the need for tough love but I helped my homeless brother.

Video ini sangat menyedihkan, tidak bisa dibayangkan jika hal itu menimpa kita. berada di tempat asing, sedang berusaha keras untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan, malah kehilangan benda berharga dan penting seperti tanda pengenal, tentunya sangat menyedihkan dan menyusahkan. apalagi tidak mempunyai saudara/teman yang bisa dihubungi di tempat tersebut. pria ini bahkan tidak menyebut dirinya tinggal ditempat itu, namun hanya "hidup" disitu. dia hanya berusaha melalui semuanya. menjadi pengemis yang berkeinginan untuk memiliki uang, pasangan dan tempat tinggal. bisa kita jadikan pelajaran untuk menjaga barang berharga kita dengan lebih baik dan berhati-hati di tempat baru.

I don't understand the US. Here in Canada as long as you know your Social Insurance Number, you can get work. If you don't have an address, you can get a PO box. That's all the ID they ask for and you don't have to show it. I'm not homeless, however I'm just existing too. Life sucks when you're too ill to work and poor. Everything is so expensive.

Sungguh video yang sangat mengharukan. Datang ke daerah asing demi mencari pekerjaan, namun kehilangan kartu pengenal, sangatlah menyedihkan untuk didengar. Tanpa adanya kartu pengenal membuat orang tersebut sebagai orang yang ada atau exist tapi tidak diketahui identitas nya. Hidup di daerah yang asing tanpa seorang kenalan dan tidak memiliki tempat tinggal sungguh sangat kesepian. Meskipun terdapat saudaranya yang berada disana, namun saudara dia tidak ingin membantunya. Hal ini sangat membuat saya bersedih melihat orang yang sedang kesusahan namun dilupakan atau tidak mau ditolong oleh keluarganya sendiri. Tak hanya itu saja, kejadian dimana barang barang dia dicuri juga sangat memprihatinkan. Dengan dirinya sekarang yang berjuang untuk hidup dengan mengemis dan mendaur ulang barang barang yang dapat digunakan. terdapat pelajaran yang dapat diambil dari video tersebut. Kita diharuskan untuk menjaga kartu pengenal kita dengan baik supaya tidak hilang, dan saling membantu keluarga yang sedang dilanda musibah atau kesusahan.
