Your voice can help end homelessness. If we do not fix the affordable housing crisis, homelessness will continue to get worse. It’s not that easy, there is a lot tied to housing cost. In order for the government or its projects to get bigger the taxes have to go up and get bigger. So the people keep eating the cost because no one wants to make less in the housing game, nor should they, and people get pushed out. Price manipulation by the government, like Seattle for instance, may get or keep lower income people houses but the property owners barely break even or go negative so the place turns into a shithole under a slum lord eventually. You would be better of starting little communes, non government funded, and if enough people say fuck it the city will have no choice than to lower taxes and everyone else can adjust to get renters again.

I’ve been down, and listening to this man actually makes me feel positive in a wonderful way, because it’s so easy to make things better in your immediate environment. Things don’t change on their own, but he highlights just how I and others who have the resources can help people all around them in ways that are meaningful, and when your down all you really want is a real connection in feeling that you are not only helping others... but connected with them.

I went through the same thing here in Austin for a few years. You can get back on your feet fairly quick if you stay sober and vigilent in trying to get off the streets here in Austin, there's people and place that will help you if you're commited to it. I quit drinking when I first got here 15 years ago, went through rehab, lived in AA's for a few years, and have been sober ever since.

Yes ! Many homeless people avoid drugs and alcohol anyway. The high rents cause homelessness really. Shelters do make a profit off their " clients". Enough housing built would render most shelters obsolete. The homeless are livestock, first and foremost. Which is WHY these corrupt politicians, homeless organizations don't support affordable housing. It really is an industry. I try to educate the police about these facts.

This is a euphemism for communism, man. This everybody will just help each other thing has been tried. Such an untainted utopian ideal dosent, has never, and can never exist. People want different things, are motivated in different ways and to differing extents, and see themselves as deserving different outcomes. Plus, most people want more for their kids than they want for yours. But there are functioning societies that actually exist right now with very low homeless rates where people generally report high personal well-being assessments. Those places have policies we can emulate to help retract the problem of homelessness and dire poverty. Just please don't be a communist by another name. Not a good look.

So when does interviewing homeless people become exploitation? Answer ; When an organization takes in well over eight hundred thousand dollars in five years and they give each person a pair of socks or buys them a new pair of glasses..." or maybe pays for a nites lodging etc. If the goal is to truly help these people why not lead by example " set up a Go Fund Me" strictly for any and all interviewee's When someone views that video and decides that they would like to help at that moment the particular person then you serve as a channel/ portal for them to receive that financial assistance. Rather than the so called non profit being the sole beneficiary. Stop exploiting the homeless under the guise of wanting to bring awareness, socks and three wishes.

I hope his mother is able to break free from her abuser. Statistically, on average, it takes 7 attempts of leaving and returning to an abuser before this happens. It must have broke this man's heart to witness his mother being abused and to have no choice but to remove himself from this toxic situation and to have no other choice but to be homeless for his own well being is heartbreaking but understandable. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is trying his best to do what needs to be done so that the conditions of his life improve. Many blessings to him 🙏

I suggest to everyone if you become homeless - make sure you have a car, it can be an older car....but you are safer sleeping in a car than you are in a shelter. Those shelters are horrific. @@kazamareenkurios8197 Am doing the best that I can do, in this world where i am having to guess my way around the maze. I got off of the streets twice, got clean and sober and staying that way despite the pain and suffering. I am finally done with the updated sales lists, or will be in 5 minutes. Keep telling myself that this is some strange dream and i will wake up one day. I am totally on my own physically.

what money? lol that shit's sitting in a bank making the smallest possible incremental payouts that they can legally get away with while the rest is funneled on the back end to rebel groups in 3rd world countries that traffic humans and loot precious minerals. there's no good in this world.

My homeless story sounds so much different than all of these.Praise the Lord. Im grateful for being humbled by Him so he can use me. I am from austin. The little church that helped this guy on the" drag" is a program for youths up to 25. There has been a program at that location since i was hanging out around there as a homeless person back in the early 90's This comment is to push up a sister Tondra Daly who now works there as the backbone of the operation. Shes someone who actually used the services. After she was led to Christ and has remained clean is now giving back to help and be a solution to the many issue surrounding homelessness. Im grateful to have her as an example of God love and patience. Prayers for this guy... Maybe ill run into one of these people that would be very cool because these folks seem genuine. Believe me folks there is a much greater thing going on here to the flipside of such a staggering problem. Many of these folkes are being trained in compassion, love and helping out the next guy. There is going to be a lot more of us and unless the system itself is not plucked out by the root in order for us all to heal it will never be fixed by bandaids. This problem is a work of art to the enemy of life and it will steamroll itself out of existance and all who were harmed will be compensated by our heavenly father...He said so!

God getting id is much much harder out west than here in Boston, I guess. I work in transitional housing and help guys get ID every day. Takes us 24 hours. Proof of address with mail, date of birth, ss number, etc. good to go.

I had to look up "gentrified". Basically what I always called "upscaling" the neighborhood. It does cause problems for those on a lower-income level, myself included. It gets so you can't afford to buy anything in that neighborhood.

What a beautiful soul this man is caring for his mom. Also, he is so lucky to be born with beautiful DNA................just look at is teeth and face that so many people pay lot's of money looking fresh and healthy like this man. Ok, I'm no dentist but if a dentist would look at his teeth and how they are formed in his bones wow, they would say that he is lucky and also that good for him that he takes care of his teeth and also ok, that he is not trying to start being and using drugs wow...............bless this man. If I would be in Austin, I would help this man out with whatever.
