As i started getting into Vintage Lenses in 2019 i really had a hard time finding informative AND enjoyable youtubevideos about it. I can say you and your Gf are very relaxing to listen to - also you totally point out the infos i am searching for! Flares and Character is what i am searching for in order to get an advantage over all these instagramers having the same look over and over again - thats why i keep searching for unique lenses and your videos are helping while doing so. Keep up the good work! Really curious with which lenses u come up with next! Greetings from italy

That Pentax bokeh is stunning. Nice job! Really enjoyed this video

Loved it! One of my favorites. I think i prefer it to the canon fd 50 1.4
@xBenjourx4 жыл бұрын
If you’re a fan of that check out the Pentax K 55 f/1.8. Can be had cheaply and has a beautifully characteristic bokeh, some CA but sharp even wide open. 👍👍
@toneyclayton4854 жыл бұрын
I have that lens. It has the "character " of a Canon lens..very beautiful and inexpensive

Do you know what adapter is used?
@gh72135 жыл бұрын
Just picked up a Sony adapter for my dad's old Minolta 50mm 1.7 and about 20 filters. Should be interesting.

I bought my first canon slr QTB with a 50mm 1.4 lens for 7-8$ in a flea market in Paris in 1983. It was working till I shifted to the digital mirrorless. The fl lenses use the same mount as the later FDn & FDn lenses but their character and construction is different. Something special about the bokeh - 3d & if one wants more contrast just bring down the highlights a little. The lenses are more solid, beautiful construction & focus & aperture dials work beautifully. The aperture dials are usually in front of the lenses which I prefer vis a vis the later fdn lenses which have more contrast. The 35/2.5 & 135/2.5 primes I think you would appreciate too. I love both the takumar & jupiter9 lenses - there is a glow - special rendering & personally I find it very limiting to work only with wide open apertures. Depending on the composition of the frame and the textures of the blurs that one wants - the DOF - distance from subject is what should be the criteria for the chosen aperture. Meanwhile thanks for showing your journeys with these lenses

8:56 Sorry but NO. FL was the earlier version of FF SLR, NOT range finder, and was overlapped at one point and subsequently replaced by FD, in the pre-AF, EOS era. Canon rangefinder lenses are *LMT* not FL.
@MDIOffice2 ай бұрын
FL is not a rangefinder lens. It's the second SLR mount developed by Canon, after the Canomatic R SLR mount and before the FD SLR mountt, which was an improvement of the FL, for this reason the FD adapters are good also for FL lenses, with identical film-flange distance of 42mm and the mechanics of the mount being mostly the same The rangefinder lenses have much smaller film-flange distances, not having a mirror between the shutter and the lens (For Canon is 28.8mm same as LTM L39 but with a different 39mm thread).

I really appreciate these videos sir! I shoot with a sony a7ii and last year I came across a Konica Hexanon AR 135mm F3.5 for 6.99 at a good will in Irving (In the original case and everything!!!) it took me awhile to get comfortable with the lens after I bought the adapter for it. But now....I take crazy doap photos with it!!!! Started searching for more vintage lens and I came across your vids. Plus you're in Ft. Worth! Nice!

I like to use a 50mm f1.8 by Canon and 45mm Minolta f2, however shooting pics of kids is hard since when they are open, it's super hard to get tack sharp eyes.

Really cool video! I’m definitely going to be picking up some vintage lenses to play around with when I get my a7iii! I know that autofocus obviously doesn’t work with these lenses but with the camera still show things like focus peaking and zebras when you are shooting with vintage lenses?
@AustinBlackvideo5 жыл бұрын
Yes! It definitely does! I would highly recommend an external monitor if you shoot video though. It’s sometimes difficult to gauge focus on the small LCD

Which adapter are you using to adapt these lenses? Thanks for introducing me to these lenses.
@AustinBlackvideo5 жыл бұрын
Eric McFarland so it all depends on the mount for the lens. I just google the adapter based on the ebay lens. Here’s an example Pentax Super Takumar: m42-e mount Jupiter 9: m39-e mount Canon 55: fd-e mount

But it’s interesting that the zeiss 55 1.8 you used to shoot the video has the 3d pop or swirly bokeh especially when the background are trees and leaves. A modern autofocus lens with a vintage look.
