I think Patrick Mason is a close contender. I know he’s a techno DJ, but his charisma on stage is unlike any other. Dude can bust out some good tunes and dance to what he is playing. In a recent set he literally got in front of the decks, in front of the crowd, and was voguing. Dude vogues a lot, actually. Don’t see many DJs do that when they literally have nothing else to do but let the track play out.

@@charger19691 Well said. Unfortunately, not too many people know that Elvis referred to Fats Domino as the REAL "King of Rock 'n' Roll." It saddens me so much when I see comments such as Atiya's... Musical legends such as Al Green, BB King, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Sammy Davis Jr, Chuck Berry and Little Richard roamed the Earth at the same time Elvis did and they all knew Elvis, loved him, and praised him very highly. The truth is that Elvis was who merged black and white music to help form Rock and Roll, jolting a youth movement and civil rights movement to the forefront so both could succeed. Anyway, much love and appreciation to both Fats Domino and Elvis Presley... Often replicated but never, ever duplicated. May they be rocking and rolling in heaven together.
@charger196912 жыл бұрын
@@KelleyBroussardMackaig , thank you for your kind words and beautiful reply. Fat’s first hit record “The Fat Man”, happened in 1949, long before the other Rock & Rollers came along. Fats Domino and his partner Dave Bartholomew were a musical powerhouse team, churning out hit after hit of Fats Domino recordings. Fats deserves a big feature film about his life, because although he’s respected, I don’t think he gets all the accolades he deserves. He’s the Father of Rock and Roll to me. Elvis Presley knew how great Fats Domino really was and always paid homage to him whenever he could. Elvis knew that Fats really started it all in my opinion.

This great man was trapped in the attic of his home during the flood caused by Hurricane Katrina. He was even thought to have perished, and people wrote "RIP Fats" on his house that he was trapped inside, alive and needing assistance! Finally, the authorities came to take another look. He was ALIVE! The next year he released an album called alive and kickin'! He was such a humble soul, not as angry as he should have been at being left stranded up there, but he was heartbroken at the loss of his momentos, a few of which were replaced by those with the power to do so. One was a Medal of the Arts presented to him by President Bill Clinton. He was saddest about that one: it was a new award and he was very proud to be an early recipient. Well, word got around that the medal was destroyed, perhaps through the President who originally gave him the medal which had been destroyed. Bill Clinton was on collegial terms with President Bush 43 at the time, and so he replaced the medal. But everything else was pretty much gone forever. Yet Fats Domino was happy to be alive!

Always considered fats as a Boogie woogie artist from the late 40s, once rock and roll was in Full swing in the late 50s, Fats was right out of place and his career nose dived into oblivion, he may have influenced some of the mid 50s rock and rollers who took his 1940s style music and gave it a new lease of life, many had been in their early teens when they first heard him on the radio.
