Not a Leaf fan. Tavares handled this with total class. Can’t really say the same for Leaf management. Matthew’s is the best player, no issues with him getting the C, not an easy thing in Toronto, having to deal with the likes of the BT crew, et al

I was thinking it was time to move JT into the front office and shed Marner's contract to free up money, but JT loves this team so much and does what he can with the team in mind. His class and giving nature for the Logo on the front has me convinced that he is worthy of another contract albeit, smaller and less term to nurse him into retirement. Won't hurt my feelings if Marner is in his last year as a Leaf but if he stays I obviously have to live with it and hope he miraculously grows a pair before trade deadline in March.

This is not a kick in the face, JT felt like the loss against Boston was all on him, he took this in a professional matter and handed the C off to Auston, this was heads on not a Strip of a Captaincy, and you two should know about that, with Auston wearing that C there won't be any downfalls, no way, and no how.

Yeah Leafs have no class. It shouldn't have happen. You do not do this just cuz of scoring. My Islanders never did this. Denis Potvin never has to relinquish his captaincy over to Bossy or Trottier. Anders Lee there is not asked to do so now to Mathew Barzal. Tavares was treated with more class n respect as an Islander and his career flourished more as an Islander, even though he had less talent around him than as a Leaf. Leafs are declasse in how they handled this situation and forced Tavares to be a part of it. They could have at least waited until they traded him which they are looking to do so regarding him and Marner if certain situations work out.
