To be fair, I'm Australian and I've seen wild kangaroos, echidnas, wombats, kookaburras, koalas, and emus. It's not all that uncommon, and the stereotype exists for a reason. It might surprise you to know I like going for walks to a nearby empty lot with a lot of overgrowth because there are rabbits there, an invasive species.

I always wonder why the names of Australia 🇦🇺 and Austria 🇦🇹 sound very similar but they're just totally different ye know. I know Australia is in Oceania while Austria is in the centre of Europe and it shares the borders with Germany 🇩🇪, Switzerland 🇨🇭, Italy 🇮🇹, Liechtenstein 🇱🇮, Slovenia 🇸🇮, Hungary 🇭🇺, Slovakia 🇸🇰 and Czechia known as Czech Republic 🇨🇿. The 'ōstar' part ultimately comes from the ancient common ancestor of English, German, Latin, Greek, Sanskrit and many other Indian and European languages where the predecessor of 'ōstar' meant "in the direction of dawn". 'Australia' derives from the term for a mythical continent known as 'Terra Australis Incognito' which meant "unknown southern land" in Latin. 'Australis' was the adjectival form 'auster' which means 'southern' but originally meant 'the southern wind'. The southern wind in question, the sirocco, is actually to the southeast of Rome and was originally associated with the east.
