A Documentary on the beautiful birds and wildlife of Tasmania’s wilderness areas.
Includes rare footage of the endemic Scrubtit and many other species of the Apple isle.
This short documentary documents our recent trip to Tasmania. My ambition was to find and film as many bird and mammal species as possible and our time here did not disappoint.
My original intention was to make a short film about the charismatic and endemic Scrubtit but as the timeline developed, I decided to add a splash of other species into the documentary.
Our journey takes us through pristine habitats, searching for the incredibly diverse birds and Mammals of Tasmania. The forests are delightful and present as a storybook with Tree ferns and moss covered logs.
Tasmania is also home to a number of endemic bird species that cannot be found anywhere else on earth.
Eventually, our 3 week adventure will be documented in a 3 part series covering an impressive array of species and of course the wonderful habitats that they live.

Absolutely stunning. I live in Canada, was born and spent childhood in NZ. Loved the bush in this. The birds are different, yet some are very similar. @@TimSiggs Subbed 👍. Reason I'm here, I went for a walk the other day along an old railway here in tas, maybe 3 kms in thick bush land and recorded a video on my phone while i was there. Came home, had a joint, played the video and was absolutely amazed at the sounds the birds were making ( maybe 8 all singing away at the same time ) and i thought wow...these little creatures are absolutely amazing! Then i thought what a weird quiet world it would be without them. This was 2 weeks ago and now I'm fascinated. I've always appreciated the sounds while waking through the bush but I've never really actually listened. It blew me away just how special the little guys are.

Hey Tim, great video! FYI Once you upload to KZbin they process your video and automatically create copies at different resolutions. You’ll usually have almost instant access to a 720p version and then takes time to process higher resolution versions. In my experience it can take up to 24hrs for a 4K version to become available. Hope that helps!

This is an awesome documentary. So soothing to watch and listen to. I watch it with my free flying parakeets. They perch on the blinds rod and watch, responding to the calls and songs of the birds in this video.

Fantastic footage as usual Tim, I enjoyed a brief trip to Tassie over 20 years ago myself, only wish I had had more time to see more of it. Those shots in the forests are marvellous in low light and needing lots of patience too. Those scrubtits act just like Tree creepers here in the UK although filming them is much easier as they are not quite as timid. Thanks for the upload, David.
